Updated the front page to reflect current testing. Does seem to be normal.

Thanks for the tests! Really appreciate the information!![]()
looks like I should keep my STR gloves over using the militia gloves. Thanks!
Most of the thanks should go to the BG Parser.
Using the 9% deviation on damage and auto data collection made it a piece of cake.

Although off-topic, it's important to note that MND also plays another important role for PLD. As of Patch 1.21, it modifies the amount of enmity generated by the Fast Blade/Flat Blade combo. It would be interesting to see exactly how MND actually modifies the enmity generated. Perhaps it increases the multiplier?
I would hypothesize that in the same way that Thundara for BLM is specifically modified by INT, and has no real practical cap, perhaps MND has a similar relationship with the FB combo. I think it would be interesting to test.
No matter what though , it'll always be a balancing act between HP/accuracy/damage and enmity generation. Great write-up so far!
really appreciate this type of testing thanks for using the parser for what its ment, I'll have to give you a shout on durandal big thanks as I main cobalt winglet all the time on PLD when enmity is a big concern to me (i've got +44 on it)Was wondering if anyone has determined:
a) Whether STR or MND is Gladiator/Paladins primary stat for damage
b) What the caps are
Testing
Mobs: Lvl 50 Drubbers @ Za'harak
Skill Used: Phalanx NQ ** Cobalt Winglet 34.62 DPS
Conclusion:
- STR is the Primary Stat for PLD
- For DPS: 34.62
:Stat Cap on STR is 315-320
:Stat Cap on MND is 275-280
STR vs ENM on Lvl 50 Drubbers (WS Damage on Cobalt Winglet)
Phalanx MIN:241 MAX:296 Predict:268.5 DEV:9.213% - STR 208 - 296 MND
Phalanx MIN:328 MAX:393 Predict:360.5 DEV:9.015% - STR 314 - 281 MND
Increasing STR by 106 to near Sof Cap increased damage by 37% so equivalent to +370 ENM to generate the same Enmity on WS.
This does not include Spirits Within, because it seems to be effected differently.
I would still use militia/heavy darklight gauntlets for stuff like Garuda and Ifrit Extreme (and maaaybe Khimera), where enmity from damage comes secondary to enmity from abilities/curing. Just my 2 cents
also worth noting that some ppl consider atk based gloves better then str when fighting ifrit / khimera or any mob with insane high defense. (like 70atk vs 45str) gloves.
I've read the parses concerning the Enmity stat and +enmity materia, and I was never very impressed by the theoretical returns. I always kind of leaned towards what you've been testing here, that the more damage you could bounce off of the Flat Blade and Spirits Within multipliers, the more enmity would be produced as an end-result. My current setup:
Cobalt Celata (+49 MND)
Giantsgall Longsword (+5 MND +16 STR)
Vintage Kite Shield +1 (+5 MND with Bloodthirst)
Lominsan Officer's Overcoat (+10 MND, +10 STR)
Cobalt Plate Belt (+2 MND with Bloodthirst)
Cobalt Gauntlets (+3 MND +34 STR)
Felt Trousers (+20 STR)
Darklight Sollerets (+10 STR...I don't miss the healing potency)
Storm Sergeant's Earrings
Storm Sergeant's Bracelets (+7 STR)
Explorer's Choker
Electrum Ring +1
Rubellite Ring +1
321 STR/306 MND (I allocated my stats into VIT and MND and ran out of keeper's hymns while messing with my MNK -.-, this would have been a lot easier to cap with that allocation in STR/MND)
327 STR/306 MND with Tuna Mi'qabob for Accuracy boost also to 409
3608 HP with Full Party Buff and 306 VIT
Obviously my HP is a little low for someone like Chimera, but there's no reason you can't have multiple builds. During AV runs in the dungeon for example, I run with an HP/DEF/VIT build for survivability, and then switch to the above build to burn down Miser during speed runs. Managed to deal 13489 DMG to Garuda tonight at 91% accuracy, and held back +30k dmg BLMs so I'm happy all around so far, but there's always room for improvement.
Anyway, I'll use the BGparser and figure up how much enmity is produced with this build versus an all Militia build, which seems to be a pretty common PLD setup nowadays. With the difference in damage, I'll use the Flat blade multiplier to determine how much enmity is generated with one combo as a whole, and then calculate how much +enmity would be required to equal that DMG output. Maybe then I can do the same thing versus someone like Ifrit (although 9% dev will be hard to achieve without spamming the hell out of it) and figure up the difference versus something with more of a dLVL.
