You could have just posted "Bend over backwards to satisfy my ego trip" and it would have conveyed the same meaning. Have you tried acting like an adult and communicating with your party instead? Not always a DPS, just the majority. Most healers aren't stupid enough to draw aggro before a tank. Most of them learn this problem when they cast too strong of a heal and adds the tank even tagged already go to them thus making the tank turn around and slow down the pull due to them being mobbed out early.
If the YPYT didn't result in 1 death, it's because someone else skipped the tutorial in hall of novice and tagged things they shouldn't have or were blind and didn't adjust to the tank.
- Tank has tank stance.
- Tank grabs 3 adds.
- DPS and Heal target 3 adds after.
- 2nd DPS grabs 3 extra adds.
Tank AFK's -> Don't attack or heal to avoid generating enmity that's going to rip it away from the tank. If he dies, that's on him. Whether it was a purposeful AFK, a keyboard/controller disconnect, etc. doesn't matter. You'd treat the situation the same way. If I see my tank not moving for a good second and he's looking even remotely close to death, I'm already running away back toward home base for his respawn. I'm not going to sit there and I already know what's going to happen 10-15s down the line. In most situations, iirc, they de-aggro after a certain range and won't follow anymore regardless.
Tank turns off tank stance -> Doesn't matter. You still see the enmity button indicating when you're about to pass the tank. Stop dealing damage/healing before it gets to that final stage.
Tank goes to single target -> You switch to single target the same as Hall of Novice.

Did the dps or healer do that before pulling the extra adds and breaking what the game taught them in the tutorial area?
Why yes, in one of my cases the healer did say they were pulling extra. The tank proceeded to say nothing and killed us all. Perhaps I should have assumed every tank is an egotistical psychopath and watched his actions like a hawk? Can't be too sure when the tank will stop doing his job, after all.

Ah, so they just asserted what they were doing, and they didn't ask at all. Point proven. Why yes, in one of my cases the healer did say they were pulling extra. Yes, it's basically proven that it was an ego issue and instead of the tank communicating "no, that's not okay", they just wind up killing everyone nonverbally to "prove a point". That's not being an adult, I'm afraid.
While we're on this stupid Hall of the Novice argument, where does the Hall of the Novice tell tanks to ignore enemies pulled by allies? I'm curious. It gives the example of enemies spawning naturally, but does not indicate that this is the only situation where you should pick up enemies as they appear.

"new foe arrives" -> The issue is that a new foe didn't arrive. That's in regard to an enemy spawn up on a party, not you going out and seeking said enemy. That's not arriving by definition.Yes, it's basically proven that it was an ego issue and instead of the tank communicating "no, that's not okay", they just wind up killing everyone nonverbally to "prove a point". And if you followed what you were told, there wouldn't be a new aggro'd target to begin with.
This is a 2+2=5 argument. Should I link you a dictionary page for what arrive means? What about "latecomers to a battle"? Where does this exclude enemies pulled by allies?
This is a thread about tanks, not DPS. I asked you about the tank training, and you brought up DPS training. Tank players wouldn't even necessarily have done the DPS training anyway. So I ask again, where does the tank training tell you to ignore enemies hitting your allies? Please enlighten me.
