Steps:
1. Plug in my DualSense controller via USB.
2. Open https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad to monitor analog stick movement.
3. Go to System Configuration > Gamepad Settings
4. Set Stick Sensitivity to 0.
5. Gradually tilt left analog stick. Character only begins to move forward when Axis 1 reaches approximately -0.305.

For comparison, when using my DualShock 4 with Stick Sensitivity set to 0, my character begins to move forward when Axis 1 reaches approximately -0.02. I can approximate the DualSense's sensitivity at 0 by setting the DualShock 4's sensitivity to 30 (which I assume is appropriate for -0.3 tilt).

Just for additional comparison, with Stick Sensitivity at 100 on the DualSense, character begins to move forward when Axis 1 reaches approximately -0.89.

Is this using a PS5 controller? I've just switched from using PS4 to PS5 and I have also been feeling like the stick is less responsive. No fancy testing, but previously I tended to cancel auto-run mode by flicking the analogue stick so it registers as manual movement, but I seem to be overshooting my mark lately.

DualSense is PS5, yeah. I made this post after seeing other people with the same issue in a different section of the forums, so I'd bet yours is the same too.

I've noticed this too and made a post in the technical support forums. Didn't realize there was this bug forums, kinda new to forums in general. But coming across this post alone has given me some sense of peace knowing I'm not just crazy and imagining this. This wasn't an issue before DT at least for me. I've recently been switching controllers trying new things since the xbox series controller is very loud, mainly the dpad, so wanted to try using a ps controller since I started on ps4 and was a bit familiar with them. I've always used controller. And I will confirm this issue is not on the ps4 controller or the xbox series controller; I only see it on the dualsense.

Another thing I wanted to mention, not sure if others have noticed or if this is somehow specific to me, but the ps5 analog sticks themselves seem to control differently than other controllers. Simply running in circles without moving the camera you can see your character seems to run in a more square shape, vs other controllers where it's more rounded. And if you do it slowly you can see there seems to be less variable inputs between the cardinal and intercardinals, like they hug those more. If you walk forward and slightly tilt to one side your character hugs that forward cardinal until you get more to the intercard of the analog. You do this same thing on a ps4 or xbox controller and there are more micro adjustments your character does.

Honestly I think they did something with steam integration in the game to make ps controllers "better" but it's weird it's only with the ps5. I only say this because I remember reading up another forum talking about the opposite, wanting to get that more dpad like movement from the analog stick and steam integration can do that.

I also wanted to add that comparing this to a friend playing on the ps5, this issue specifically seems to be on the pc version of the game. They sent some vids of them setting the stick sensitivity to 0 and barely moving the sticks and their character would move like it should at 0 deadzone.

I did think that too! But I was going back and forth between the two controllers trying to compare, and I wasn't 100% sure, so I didn't want to confuse the issue by including it... But if I'm not the only one thinking it then yeah, seems like a real issue.

yeah it's a shame this happened as I love the dualsense, I had to go around looking for another ps4 controller since I'm not a fan of how loud the xbox dpad is. Hopefully they fix this issue soon so do dualsense can be used, it's very unusable in it's current state for me.

I'm rather glad to see this getting noticed. I posted about this as well as the stick sensitivity and didn't seem to get much attention for it, so glad other's posts are reaching people, and a forums dev responded to this so that surely means it'll get around and fixed.

I'm probably the minority but I actually greatly appreciated the deadzone change after 7.0. I originally started playing this game on the PS4, and the first thing I noticed when playing on PC using a Dualshock 4 or Dualsense is that it does not have a cross-shaped deadzone (+) which was added to PC after the 7.0 update.

To clarify I am using the native launcher, not steam.

*Without* the deadzone I have an extremely difficult time walking in straight lines. This affects certain gameplay mechanics like sliding on ice, "gaze" attacks, tightrope walk, and jumping puzzles.

After update 7.01 it seems like the deadzone was reverted (removed) so now I'm back to walking around drifting to the left or the right very frequently.

Changing the deadzone in game doesn't help with this issue, it only affects when your character will start moving, not when they will stray from walking straight.

I do think without the + deadzone it offers a different experience being that it feels "smoother", but in my case it's not practical at all.

I would much rather the "cross deadzone" be a toggle option in the controller settings rather than trying to satisfy one type of player.
