Let me start off by apologizing if I'm posting this in the wrong forum, but sadly my google-fu skills have failed me.

I've got a small house plot that I don't use. It cost me almost 3.6 mil gil. I've read that after 45 of so days of my not entering the house, the game will recall it. I've also read that I'd get back roughly 80% of that gil when the house is taken back. Is this correct?

I'm aware that if I had lost the auction for the house, I'd get some of the bid money back, but the house is in my name.

If I let the house burn, so to speak, will I get that roughly 80% back or is it just gone?

I'll just keep the plot otherwise.

Yes I believe it's 80 percent back and you can retrieve your housing items well at least most of them some you can't. Relative to new bids on houses if you lose you get all of it back.

Are you just struggling with gil and are looking for an easy boost of a couple million or something? If you're willing to keep the plot otherwise, then you may as well just keep the plot and make the most of it. Plop a garden on the lawn and make some money for yourself. Or at least feed grow some of that good stuff for your chocobo.
Gil is easier to come by than housing plots.

You get some of the gil back but you have to go reclaim it from the housing npc to get it- as well as the items that were in the house. You have a set amount of days to reclaim it before it's all gone forever
You're supposed to get two automated emails from squareenix about your plot demolish as well

The house is currently empty, inside and out.

I'm very lazy about checking my emails so I'll have to see if a burn notice is in there.

At the moment, demolition is turned off. So you will have to wait for it to restart.
