Game Stuttering every two seconds.

Hello my friend and I just came back to XIV for Dawntrail after a six month leave. Since my friend came back they have had this stutter every two seconds that will eat commands and visuals on screen making it hard for him to tank anything. We have tried every solution we have found so far and he has even as of today upgraded his GPU and the issue is still there. Can anyone help? XIV is the only game on his pc with this stutter issue.

Try changing your audio to a speaker or a headset. If you're using a DAC, it might not be compatible with FFXIV anymore. Try disabling any controller or gamepads in the game settings. Disable Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator in Device Manager. Disable e-cores in task manager.

My friend is trying to get onto the forums right now so he can post everything he has tried, its being a little weird letting him get on to them right now. but he said he tried that and it did not work.

Have the same issue, if Anti-Lag enabled.
Some people have it even from FreeSync/G-Sync/Adaptive Sync enabled.

He has tried that and still has the stutter, we are pretty lost now on what is causing this no other game has this issue.

You're not alone my friend, lots of us are having this issue. Here's to hoping we get either an Nvidia patch or a FFXIV patch, as Im pretty sure the issue is on one of their ends.

Unsure if the same issue, was having stutters similar to OP's description today.

I did a clean install of my GPU (3070Ti) drivers via Nvidia GeForce Experience & when I logged back in the issue was gone. Additionally, I did notice that my game was "receiving" over 600 packets when I was getting the initial stuttering, so it could have been related to my connection.

Not sure if the clean install fixed or if it was a network connection issue that went away on its own...

Honestly I am not sure what the issues is either, I am also having this every 2 second stutter and it is only on FFXIV. I've tried setting every setting available to the lowest, disabling all E-Cores, Disabling G-Sync, tried reinstalling the game, removed display drivers via DDU and safemode then reinstalled them, Ive tried reseating my GPU and checked all the cords, and to no avail with fixing the stutters. Thermals are completely fine in the low 60-70 Degrees Celsius range while under load too.

What Platform are you using? (Steam/Windows/Mac/PS4 etc.)
At what point does the issue occur?
How often does the issue occur?

Could you provide the exact error message received?
Are you running any additional programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?
Does the issue occur with one character or multiple characters?
When the issue happens, is the PC over heating at all?
Were any update or changes made to the PC around the time of the issue?
Does this issue occur if the game is run in full screen mode? Does it happen in borderless or windowed mode?

All steps taken to resolve the issue:

Could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.
