Has broken really become such an overused terms people don't know what it means? I suppose this is called "trolling" though -- If a game isn't fun it's not fun, not broken.
There's a reason people still play Civ I too -- they just like it.Diablo 3 is going to sell like gangbusters. Diablo 2 still cracks into the top 10 selling PC games now and then. It might not be everyones' cup of tea, but to downplay its significance in the RPG and PC markets is laughable. There's a reason people still have LAN parties with it a decade later.
fun and enjoyment all depends on the player. what might be fun for me might not be fun for u. as in, im having fun playing with friends, getting to lvl cap, farming NMs, exploring different areas, all things you will probably never get to do cause u gave up and do nothing but complain
Ah, belgian, you're getting easier and easier
Fun = subjective definition
Broken = absolute definition
Ergo "fun" and "broken" have nothing to do with each other.
Listen to *who* exactly?
Statements like this are always quite funny, as people think they represent or represented the general opinion. Betas normally fail in identifying and solve big problems that aren't simple bugs prior to launch. Why? Because people have different tastes and expectation. The beta forum was no different than this one, a silly chaos full of people bickering over the smallest detail and expressing diametrally opposite opinion. So to who should have square enix listened to exactly?
Length of time vs amout of updates/fixes
SE: ----------------------------------------------> = 15
Other ----------->=20----------->=20--------->=20
Actually this is a completely arbitrary (and plain false) estimate, with no ground in reality. They are being quite faster than most (if not all) the market at patching the game, especially considering that they are overhauling fundamental game mechanics, and not just adding content that was already in development much prior to the game's release.
Making up a graph based on nothing doesn't really help your hate arguments![]()

I agree but these people are really obsessed with semantics.
The adjective isn't even important.
If you like I can call the game-play not working, boring, monotonous , not up to par with SE standards, not good, bad, substandard, work-like, lacking in quality, in need of serious overhaul, not memorable, uninteresting, lacking fair challenge and design, hollow, empty, lifeless and so forth.
I badly want to play XIV but it's like waiting for a game that doesn't have a clear release date at this point.
My biggest fear is that given the quality of the bigger patches it seems to some consumers (including me) that the new designers have gotten used to the broken mech... I'm sorry poor mechanics of the game and are not seeing that BIG changes need to be made for this game to stand a chance.
I'm not talking about nudging the UI boxes a few pixels to the left to make more pleasing UI I'm talking changing the classes to real FF jobs or battle-system speed or throwing out classes all together, deleting all of the 3 zones and re-making them with interesting terrain and game-play possibilities, taking out all anima or making it endless, taking out the repair system or making crafting so fun that every crafting class has it's own minigame and people will want to do it just because it's fun for most players, making npc quests with cutscenes and rewrite the storyline to make sense. Give us jump or make the limitation of movement benefit the game-play somehow. Do something huge!
I haven't seen anything in the future plans that any game-changing plans are coming. I do have high hopes for companies though. I hope they aren't presented like crafting questing, missions and leves are, because everything in this game looks like a leve now.
Making minor SP adjustments is not cutting it.
A lot of those games are single player, it's very easy to play an MMO and OTHER genres, at least stick to MMOs.
On topic the only other MMO I am looking forwards to is TOR, and even that is no competition to this as it's a completely different atmosphere and type of game.
Actually it does, it's a completely different investment a single player game is finite and only limited by how many times you want to replay it, an MMO is ongoing, a different ball game all together requiring an ongoing investment. Most MMO players play both very, very easily.Not that I fully agree with the OP but people who think that because a game is not an MMO it is not competing with FFXIV are wrong. Most people play GAMES in there spare time for fun, FFXIV is a game and so does have to compete with every other game for people to decide what to spend there time playing. Just because something is not in the same genre does not mean it is not competition. I dare say that a fair few people who play MMO's also play other games including offline games in other genres.
You can take breaks play your favorite single player game and then what? Go back to your MMO until another cool game comes out.
Its funny that you still have hope for another half life.
*yawns* sup guis
@BelgianRofl you really going to waste the rest of your life on here making pointless topics? there one about the patch please use that one.
