No matter how good any game is, D3 will command attention from fans for months. I don't care who you are, you are a Diablo fan. I think I might buy some Blizzard stock before then.
    im not a diablo fan
    so you sir, are wrong

people will play it, sure they will, but games dont become ghost towns because of it, they didnt when d2 hit, or when sc3 hit, or any other game hit
people really give games way too much credit for doing this

also wasnt rift supposed to make every game a ghost town too? looks like no one seemed to care and were all still playing their usual games when it came out too

point is, game releases, while they may have small impacts, do not truely take users away from other games.

lol Diablo is not THAT popular. Hell I never played either of them and I have no urge to play the next one either.

Plus how many times do we have to see a game series get made by a different developer then the originals before people understand it usually ends up in disaster. COD, Medal of Honor, Fall Out New Vegas, and many others want to teach you a lesson.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Diablo 3 will cut in the subs of one MMO mainly. And that's WoW's. Blizzard themselves said that. Most rabid blizzard fans that drool at the idea to play another rehashed diablo game are, guess what, playing WoW MMORPG-wise.

Do you guys realize that we are back in beta and the game will have another oficial launch on PS3 release? Until they don't finish tweaking and adding the planned stuff there's no reason to renegade yet. They are already working on it, having every 2 weeks a patch. Despite the earthquake everything is going well, I don't understand sometimes the haste some of the people have. Even the forums were made to comunicate with the devs so they know what we need and want from this game besides the polls.
It is not finished, and we shouldn't value it as if it were. Mistakes were made, release was one year too soon, but it's getting fixed, and we can presence the changes for free. I'm no fangirl trying to defend SE, I made many critics, but I do realize they are trying to do their best. Not only to us as players who bought their game when it came out, but also as business, such a company can't really allow such money loss.

Not that I fully agree with the OP but people who think that because a game is not an MMO it is not competing with FFXIV are wrong. Most people play GAMES in there spare time for fun, FFXIV is a game and so does have to compete with every other game for people to decide what to spend there time playing. Just because something is not in the same genre does not mean it is not competition. I dare say that a fair few people who play MMO's also play other games including offline games in other genres.

So if there is a huge line up of games that you want to play like the OP wants to then he would have to choose what to spend his time playing and if FFXIV does not have enough to keep you entertained then you will play something else. If it turns out that they end up spending more time playing these other games then they will most likely cancel their account once it goes pay to play. Then that is a problem for SE as they will lose subs if they don't have enough to keep people playing. It's ok at the min with it being free as people aren't as bothered and can go play other things without paying a sub, but if they were paying it would be a different story.

Guys. There was already a heads up on the battle changes/class changes content being pushed back to next month due to the natural disaster. Or are we just ignoring that fact atm?

As for giving us the option to revert the targeting mode--I hope this means they're still trying to figure out how to make it better. I like how other games, like WoW, actually use different keys to target friendly/enemy targets, it would be neat if SE did something similar. Even if it's Tab to target enemies, Ctrl+Tab to target friendly, or let us set our own in the keybinding options.
BS what they have planned atm simply isnt enough they are moving tooooo slow with too few of the real issues being addressed 1st... screw companys, fix the damn class system and battle system make it where you can have exp partys with your friends.
Doing leves to you reach the limit then crafting till they repop is freakin weak, i havent seen any difference with devo team changes or producer its the same crap... they are ignoring the fans and doing their own thing

A lot of those games are single player, it's very easy to play an MMO and OTHER genres, at least stick to MMOs.

On topic the only other MMO I am looking forwards to is TOR, and even that is no competition to this as it's a completely different atmosphere and type of game.

Actually it does, it's a completely different investment a single player game is finite and only limited by how many times you want to replay it, an MMO is ongoing, a different ball game all together requiring an ongoing investment. Most MMO players play both very, very easily.

You can take breaks play your favorite single player game and then what? Go back to your MMO until another cool game comes out.

NO one is ignoring that but what they have planned is not at all what the fans have been pleading for. and its easy to see that you can say that becasue you love this game and play alot ppl are pissed because they are not happy with the product but of course there are a few multi rnk 50 O.o that play this game like crazy and are happy with this broken product

Do you honestly think they are not working on anything else at the same time as these patches. They already said they are redoing the entire battle system and even looking at classes, they are also redesigning the zones. All of that is going to take time.

The battle system changes are going to be spread over 2 monthly updates so they are not going to be little tweaks here and there.

All they are doing atm is fixing the core of the game, which is what they need to do. They are saving content for the PS3 release, basically the game is in beta now and they will drip feed us the minimal amount of content they have to so they can save as much as they possible can for the PS3 launch.
