The "ticking clock" expression involves urgency. He talked about "end of 2011" at the earliest, and there's very little urgency in that. Ergo, I don't see a contradiction.
I'm quite sure that by the end of 2011 (actually quite a lot before, I would more say by the end of the summer) this game will have evolved quite a lot already. For the better or the worse, time will tell.

I think you are trying to say that I am contradicting myself? A ticking clock would imply that there is some kind of rush/urgency.
I am talking about almost 9 to 12 months from now. I do not see a urgency there, do you?
I am just using my brains and try to guess how long it would take any company to fix a game this broken. Like I said in my post above. The patches are not just about adding content or adjusting small mechanics or fixing bugs. They are basically redeveloping certain big and important parts of the game (maps, battle, classes). So it is not more than fair to give Yoshi at least one year before we draw our final conclusions.
I am giving them a year, while you and some others don't even give them a week after the disasters in Japan. The servers came up as soon as they could get them up. As soon as the servers were up they released patch notes and still you and some others had the balls to make a topic about it to tell us how bad the patch was.
Um is my first post on this thread so idk were that "again" comes from.Again, you too are trying to sell your opinion as a fact. What clock are you talking about? There is no clock ticking, at least not for me. What MMOs are you talking about anyway? Guild Wars 2? That one will not be released before 2012. TERA online? Probably will not make 2012 either. What is left?
People should simply look at FFXIV as a beta, until the PS3 version is released. If they release the PS3 version and still have a bad gameplay, no content and not enough subscribers we can talk about a ticking clock. Right now there is no ticking clock, at least not for me.
You guys are making up imaginary ticking clocks or whatever and pressure yourself, the community and the developers for no reason. If someone wants to go play Wow, just go an play. If you want to go play Diablo 3, just go and play. There is no need to keep announcing it here, it will not change anything.
Personally I do think that FFXIV has at least until late 2011 to get everything working and release the PS3 (early 2012 latest). If they are still as messy one year after Yoshi took over we can start talking about clocks and if they are ticking or not. Right now there is no such thing ... at least not for me ... I can not and will not talk for the whole community like you guys tend to do.
Anyways,
Everything here is in fact " opinions".I think is pretty redundant to put everytime i say anything "in my opinion".
Im talking for me and the people i know. the game right now is boring after you reach level 50 kill nms and level other classes. All that is left is rinse and repeat. The is a beta only takes us so far, people get bored and leave. You know i been doing the same 3 thins for the last 2 months .
1-do leves/behest
2-kill nm
3-craft.
Thats all there is to do ,so please tell me , how exactly would people stay if somewere else they get offered more than this.this game needs big changes.
Also , i never said when is the deadline for this, yourself say ffxiv have until late 2011.
How exactly is that different from what i said ? lol.

I apologize, I mixed you up with someone else, really sorry.Um is my first post on this thread so idk were that "again" comes from.

The thing here is that you assume people will leave as soon as something else comes looking around the corner. I think that is not the case. That is the main thing we don't agree on.
You were talking about a ticking clock, which makes me think that there is some kind of rush/urgency. I am giving it almost a year, that is the difference.
That doesn't mean I think the game is great. God, no .... the game is a mess, but it got potential. We just need to take a deep breath, consider this a beta we paid $60 to get into and stop going crazy about it.

Diablo 3 WILL impact the world of MMORPGs.
But it will impact only ONE MMORPG majorly. That's WoW. Most Blizzard fans that are drooling their eyes out waiting for Diablo 3 are currently playing WoW. And Blizzard stated that themselves.
What makes this thread devoid of realism is not that the games listed won't compete with FFXIV, but that hurrying the "fixing" won't bring much of an advantage. Even games released tomorrow compete with FFXIV. Even games already released do. Big games get released every month, that's the reality of the market.
As much as games released in the future will impact FFXIV, FFXIV's PS3 release (if it's good) will impact them. Then their expansions and newer games will impact FFIXV again, and the FFXIV's expansions will impact them in turn, and so forth, again and again.
SE hurried this game too much to release for many reasons, one of which is probably because they wanted to get on the market before Cataclysm. Bad idea, and I'm quite surprised that some advocate that they should persevere in that attitude.

Zkieve, seeing as how you are a rank 50, may I ask your opinion on the current Class system and Battle system?
How do you feel about party tactics? Individuality? Challenge?
Some are of the opinion that being rank 15, I cannot have a valid opinion of battle in FFXIV.
Well , to be honest man the battle system have great concepts, but is an unfinished product.if we dont look at it this way, we wont find the good or bad parts.Currently the battle system is lacking , but the concepts are good, although reallly badly implemented.Zkieve, seeing as how you are a rank 50, may I ask your opinion on the current Class system and Battle system?

Brs, incapacitation,mix/matching skills, all great in paper but you eventually see it as it is.An unfinished product.Hard to say is good or bad, the devs themselfs said they tought it was okay to release an unfinished product, and evolve it over time, unfortunately we arent as forgiving as 8 years ago.I find it hard to go into detail about battle and class system , couse in the end its all down to the same,, its not finished.Idk if it will turn out good or bad, but currently is only a shell, lacking everything else.
Party tactics and challenges are rare.Sure there are some exceptions but honestly is far and short. At least comparing it to other mmos in the market.
Evenstar, the big problem is, people are already leaving. Have you checked your server lately?
