Also, there's a big difference between "stirring up" and intentionally spreading negativity and FUD, every single day, always looking for (often completely out of line, like in this case) excuses to do so, without a single spec of constructiveness.

Game development needs constructive feedback, and that's what the forums are for. Self elected robin hoods should learn that stay in sherwood. Overdramatized support posts don't really make their methods any less disruptive.
We shall have to agree to disagree then, my good man. You are entitled to your opinion as am I, I shall not attempt to argue for my opinion seeing as doing so generally just makes everyone else entrench further in their folly. However, I am of the opinion that self-elected Robin Hoods are awesome. You would prefer a "Robin Hood" that was elected by popular vote?

"Intentionally Spreading Negativity" I suppose a great many "Muckrakers" did that as well. The general consensus was they needed to "quiet down". The overarching theme of history at large is people forget the bad things if they're idle enough.

Is that good? Subjective. Is that bad? Subjective.

Also, for someone who loves the tar out of subjectivity a statement such as "Game development needs constructive feedback, and that's what the forums are for." Seems highly suspect. I mean, who am I or who are you to say what these forums are for? Maybe they're to gauge player attitudes? Maybe they're to lighten SE's countenance?

I don't know. People should say that more often because it sure as heck is true of far more people than would ever admit it.

FFXI was my first MMO. In my opinion, it is the best MMO out there. It has some major problems but considering my incredibly favorable impression of Square-Enix, I had assumed that SE would take what it's learned from it's 8 years of FFXI and release the best MMO for years to come.

I will not just support something right or wrong. Stand for something, or you'll fall for anything.
I emphathize with you Belgian. I also dislike how people color you a troll when you're simply attempting to stir up the community into earnest thought. When you like something or want to like something, you can't just sit and twiddle your thumbs, especially if you know what you like is currently under the weather (to put it lightly).

I truly hope you continue to divvy out your brand of thought and keep fighting the good fight Brother.

Stand my friend, and keep standing, despite the hordes that assail you from every side. Fight the good fight!

I shall be here as well.

You know, actually you are right about many things. Some of your topics are well written and some of your suggestions are pretty good. However, it is your attitude that made people think you are just trolling. This includes me. If you see someone open topic after topic with just one or two lines in it that "whine" about things we know for months you can't help but think that person is trolling.

Like this topic about patch 1.16b. Seriously man, get real. You know they made a mistake by releasing FFXIV so early, I know the made a mistake, actually the whole freaking world (including SE) knows it was a mistake. You can not expect them to fix this in a week or a month or even 6 months. It is going to take up to a year from the day Yoshi took over before we can say "this game is ready for (re)release. You know that, since I am pretty sure you are not stupid. If you really want FFXIV and SE to succeed you should make more topics with well written posts and suggestion instead of "ROFLCOPTER THEY SUCK AND ARE SLOW" topics. We all know that they made a mistake and suck by now. What does it bring you, the community, FFXIV or SE to make a new topic almost daily to whine? Please tell me that.

Again, I agree on most of the things you say, but the way you bring it is just brutal, annoying and childish, which I am sure of that you can do better .... since some of your posts in those threads are like 1000% better and more adult than your topic titles and opening posts.

This is essentially the core issue & no one seems to understand.

that experience wasn't present when the game was first released... Those people were the XI dev team and a different team got XIV started.

FFXI dev team was busy, FFXI players were getting tired, XIV devs were noobs, game released & now we all make the switch. It isn't really possible to tweak an mmorpg before release... All the trendy wow crackheads, well they can leave...

Thank you Zaene. I will be frank with you, however... My time here is limited. Portal 2, Duke Nukem, and From Dust are arriving shortly, After that the Last Guardian...

If FFXIV is not fixed before Diablo 3's release, I can assure you that I will never be coming back. Even Blizzard has to compete with itself in regards to Diablo 3 - which will steal away massive amounts of WOW players.

Yoshi-P has about 3-weeks to tell us something, or the Belgian Rofls of the world are moving on.

Why wait 3 weeks? If you're that set on splitting, then I highly doubt that anything Yoshi says is going to please you.

You haven't been adding much here other than your namesake, so by all means, take some initiative and leave early.

Yoshi-P has a chance to restore hope while we're not thinking about the freaking awesome upcoming games.

    3 weeks.

You really making it sound like Diablo III is the end of the world for all other games. Others already have stated that they do not care about Diablo III. Personally I do not give a crap about Diablo III myself. Besides that Diablo III is not a MMORPG, so it will not compete with FFXIV or WoW. It will have a small impact the first few weeks, but I doubt people will cancel their MMORPG subscriptions because Diablo III is released.

You really should stop thinking that your opinion is the only proper opinion at those forums. You make it look like it is a fact that Diablo III will "steal" members from FFXIV or any other MMORPG. You are just guessing, nothing more, nothing less. So please stop trying to sell your opinion as a fact, since your opinion on this matter is not shared by the majority of the FFXIV community.

Also, I can not remember any singleplayer game since I started playing FFXI that even tempted me to quit. The only game that will make me cancel my subscription for maybe one month would be a 1080p remake of Final Fantasy 7.

While i do agree single player games wont do anything towards the mmo market, let us not forget that other AAA MMOs are coming soon.

The clock is ticking on ffxiv recovery . Saying otherwise would be just a lie,, to yourself and the community.
in the end there are 4 type of people currently playing .

1 - those who are playing couse is F2P. This type brings no income.
2 -Those who play because for them ffxiv is better than anything else in the market for the time being.
3 -Those who are still on the early stages of the game, hence having fun for some time until they get bored and move on.
4 - those who wont stop playing ffxiv no matter what.

I think 2 and 3 would leave for a good and polished MMO as soon as it comes out unless the recovery processes happens before new releases, wich is unlikely.

1 brings no income , and 4 is to few.

Like i said , time it is runing out .
I wish for the best for this game but realistically speaking the chances to recover are slim.I hope we do recover tough.

Again, you too are trying to sell your opinion as a fact. What clock are you talking about? There is no clock ticking, at least not for me. What MMOs are you talking about anyway? Guild Wars 2? That one will not be released before 2012. TERA online? Probably will not make 2012 either. What is left?

People should simply look at FFXIV as a beta, until the PS3 version is released. If they release the PS3 version and still have a bad gameplay, no content and not enough subscribers we can talk about a ticking clock. Right now there is no ticking clock, at least not for me.

You guys are making up imaginary ticking clocks or whatever and pressure yourself, the community and the developers for no reason. If someone wants to go play Wow, just go an play. If you want to go play Diablo 3, just go and play. There is no need to keep announcing it here, it will not change anything.

Personally I do think that FFXIV has at least until late 2011 to get everything working and release the PS3 (early 2012 latest). If they are still as messy one year after Yoshi took over we can start talking about clocks and if they are ticking or not. Right now there is no such thing ... at least not for me ... I can not and will not talk for the whole community like you guys tend to do.
