Actually that's not what the majority wants. The player poll was quite clear, and the majority wants more content (understandably). In fact content is coming. It's called companies.
You != We.
"NOW!" != Realism.
I've heard this before. "New content is coming! Sidequests! YAY!"
Those turned out just GREAT, didn't they?
We don't even know what companies are yet, so how do we know this is the magical and elusive "content" we've been craving since September?
Not to mention we have no idea when companies are even going to be introduced, all we were told is we'll hear information about them "before the release of 1.17".
You folks need to take it easy on Belgian...the rabid fanboys here have labeled him as a troll, when a lot of what he says is sensible and constructive, albeit blunt. He has said numerous times that he was really looking forward to the game, and he wants it to succeed. None of you even bothered to read that, I bet.
But that's the way things work around here, isn't it? Anyone who isn't slobbering all over themselves talking about how wonderful SE is gets the label of "troll", while the real trolls (kilta firelotus) continue to spew nonsense and contribute nothing.

So there are many suggestions on the forums and the developers are hard at work attempting to please the fan base. While the current update is somewhat lacking, I am hopeful that the main issues people have currently will be fixed in patch 1.17. If not they will be fixed by the time the PS3 launch. The developers seem to be attempting to get updates to the game ASAP, but the larger changes take longer time, so we simply see the minor tweaks first. The developers will most likely first fix the underlying system first, and then add major content, as it avoids re-balancing. I also believe that we will continue on F2P until the time the developers are happy with the system, so for now just consider yourself part of an extended beta test. In that mind, I'm sure the developers are appreciative of the well thought out comments offering polite feedback.

Yeah yeah, every game is a threat to current MMOs.... move along folks, nothing to see here.
They fix things people ask them to fix and we get troll threads like this. More to the point we knew this patch would be a system/bug patch, and the next one a content patch.

loltroll
Also you forgot Mass Effect 3, Q4 2011.

Did the trolls forget what just happened in Japan only 18 days ago or so, i'm surprised they even implemented patch 1.16a already. I'll take it. That being said i do agree we need some considerable content and quick. Patch 1.17 should be out in a week or 2 so we shall see. But for now give them a break you trolls, ever heard of a earthquake and tsunami? If the game is really that bad you don't have to play, nor do you have to troll these forums.

Somebody has a pessimistic view about the game.
Somebody says this about a guy that, also, has a pessimistic view about the game:
I wonder if bias is involved, but surely there is nothing but objective analysis in the aforementioned statement.You folks need to take it easy on Belgian...the rabid fanboys here have labeled him as a troll, when a lot of what he says is sensible and constructive, albeit blunt.

half of the game on your coming soon list... they're western games which present you a skinhead guy carrying machine gun, there're million of this kind of game and I hate them
While North American players think the most important first step is to add more content, the non-WOW-playing Japanese think the Combat system is the first step.
Yoshi-P has also noted that it doesn't make a lot of sense to add a bunch of new content first when any changes to the combat/armory system would require subsequent retooling of that recently added content.
Also, while 36% of people think content is something they want right away, 85% welcome changes that would drastically alter rules set by eorzea, and 72% welcome fundamental gameplay changes.
Yes this game absolutely needs a truckload of content, but the fundamentals need to be reworked right away. The servers are quickly dieing off...
