[Dawntrail] Lots of Shadowbringers Parallels

Hey, first post in this specific subforum. I've noticed a LOT of more-than-superficial parallels across the areas and duties of Dawntrail. This is a SPOILERIFIC channel so you have been warned.

[SPOILER]Yak Tel :

Town Ix'braaq : A community of wrothgar not unlike Slitherbough, although created in very different contexts.

Jak Tiika Wilderness: Literally a re-spelling of Raktika Greatwood, even has a forest so dense it blocks out the sun


Shaaloani:the region itself is a parallel to Ahm Areng's western half, replete with wild west shanty towns, mines, and train tracks.

Train arc: the literal flashback with the train worker trio

Tender Valley: the second to last pull before the final boss contained reolored trash from Qitana Ravel, in place of the Ronkan Dreamer was a recolored model of Lozatl, the dungeon's first boss, but pinned in place like the Dreamer amid the lasers from the arena. The final boss is the Great Serpent, who is a theme for the crafting/gathering tribe quest in the Greatwood.

The first boss: was quite literally a harder retelling of Philia, the final boss from Holminster Switch

The middle boss was a retelling of either Livia's Ghost from Aitia or Scathch (so the parallels become weaker for this dungeon with her).

it really makes me wonder about the possibility of a deeper connection or are these just all red herrings that are making my head hurt? I'm sure I've missed plenty but the plethora of them are too many to not do anything with.

I have nothing to say on your observations beyond 'yeah I guess' and that I think it's just a case of cameos, references and recycled mechanics; sometimes you're not looking at deep clues, and you're just looking at coincidence and fanservice.

Just want to add I was also disappointed that the city of gold was not Ronka related. The spelling was similar, the robot monsters in the dungeon were there…even the concept of Ronkan’s knowing the clash between Hyd and Zodiark was also known by the Tural people.

Even on the first there’s a lot of unknown with the Ronkans, like the ruins just fell out of the sky. (Ronka was a Flying Fortress in FF5 after all)

I was certain there was a connection..until whoopsie daisy there wasn’t.
