    first expansion where i will not be maining healer

    I started ff14 during HW and Ive played AST and WHM all the way till EW.

    I gritted my teeth when whm went away from elemental mastery and turned more towards light aspect, for shadowbringers it made sense, light etc.

    I pushed forward when scholar lost its dot potential and aetherflow remained the same.

    I (somehow) kept playing AST even during the countless mutations of its kit, hoping that maybe next expansion they will finally get it right.

    then EW came around and white mage remained with its glare spells, scholar remained unintuitive and AST (somehow) got even worse. But I kept healing, because despite the fantasy or mechanics behind the jobs being butchered I still enjoyed keeping people alive.

    But now im done. AST is exactly the same, but more boring. the new card systems is fresh on the surface, but in long fights it means you have to sacrifice all cards even if you dont want to use them right now just to give the next dps buff. the removal of the sects dumbfounded me. sure we have pure healer and barrier healer now but we can still cast big shields as AST so it essentially took away an intelligent mechanic and replaced it with a button.

    WHM is absolutely colorless. No wind, no earth, 1 water spell. It absolutely ran the job fantasy to the ground and it has literally become just a walking flashlight. The wings were cool, and the lily was pretty, but in DT all we got were more bright lights and a barrier (again dont we have barrier healers for that?). Wheres the elemental magic that made me fall in love with it ?

    Scholar while retaining a lot of its core mechanics has lost any and all identity. And the aetherflow being still present is hilarious to me, honestly. Seraphism, while useful and pretty, has nothing to do with scholar.

    Sage is the only job that has a good balance between job identity and job mechanics, but ultimately whenever I have to heal in ff14 now i literally catch myself spacing out. With the fights becoming more dynamic theyve looked to simplify healer damage outpit and magnify healing output, but I sincerely doubt any of the devision making team have sat down and played a healer through all the dungeons and trials and hard content.

    Its simply not fun anymore. Fights require more brainpower why shouldn't the kits? and where is the fun factor in pressing 1 button for damage and 2 buttons for healing? I know this has already been said countlesstimes, but I thought maybe Ill get lucky and someone from SE who matters will read this. Healing as a whole needs SPECIFIC attention, and not just an afterthought. til then I will be playing dancer, a support dps that actually balances aesthetics with engaging combinations and a kit that comes together intelligently. Or pictomancer, a support dps that balances aesthetics with an engaging a kit that comes together intelligently. Or RDM, a support dps that balances aesthetics with an engaging kit that comes together intelligently.

    With you 100% they have just ruined the lore on the healers IMO and made them brain dead.

    Don't you like Seraph mage--I mean, Scholar?

    In all seriousness, Aetherflow is a good mechanic; it just needs to be built upon a bit more to feel complete, like upgrading Energy Drain into Bane with an initial hit potency so Scholars have a DPS spender that works for both single target and aoe.

    I've already said my piece numerous times on what the team can do to fix the role. It's up to them, now.

    Same for me, all of my greenies are gonna stay parked at 90. It's a shame because the increased difficulty seems fun but I literally cannot take another expansion of mindlessly spamming a single filler key for a largely undesigned role.

    I still play Scholar because copium (I like pretending I’m a support buffer) but honestly everytime I queue for expert roulette I let out a great big sigh. Like, ‘ugh, time for Art of War roulette’ lol. It’s definitely… hard to enjoy to put it mildly.

    I already dropped my main from 1.0 (Bard) at Shadowbringers, switched to Scholar, but I honestly have no idea where to go next lol.
    I’m sick of having to drop my main job for something else because the developers decide to completely ruin all the good things about it. None of the others jobs feel very ‘me’ so at this point I’m literally just a ‘nothing’ main, which feels pretty sad.

    Idk, I just play the game in extremely infrequent bursts (play for a month or two then never again for at least a year). Which I get is the literal ‘Optimal Yoshi-Sanctioned’ method of playing. But I feel like even just simple things like actually having enjoyable classes for everyone and not just dps-lovers would help make it feel more worthwhile to play outside of the first week of release

    Yeah that 85% broil uptime (12% biolysis) in vali ex definitely feels like I’m being stressed out

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    You realize that happens every expansion start? Healing skill cap drops as content gets older and its to the point the healer might not even need to do more than 60 or two minute interval heals with just hitting 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 the other 90% of the fights.
