the writing (small DT spoilers and Stormblood spoiler)

what happened to the writing in this game. i know its suposed to be a more light hearted expansion i guess. im only halfway throug.. and i dont hate it but it feels more like a standard shonen anime than the realness and darkness of what this story once had.

2 quotes come to mind the most. both from stormblood. of the vibe im really missing.

i hope the writing can get back to this level someday. again i dont hate the story it just feels so much lesser than the story we've had before.

i was more annoyed at just forgiving everyone with no repurcussions. and nobody gets hurt, nobody dies. they released a strong enemy and everyone is just alittle wounded.? wtf XD maybe the story fucked me up too much but man where are the stakes?

Seriously lol. Imagine if instead of that lengthy "redemption" Gaius got (a bit questionable if he's properly redeemed too, but let's ignore that for a second) the game showed us a cutscene of his daddy being mean to him. Then he'd cry and then just a second later, everybody would be giving him hugs and telling him what a good boy he actually is.

Heavensward and Dragonsong War? Why, we should have just gone to the dragons and told them "yo you stupid lizards, you totally forgot your own history, let us just remind you real quick because we somehow know better - see, Shiva literally died to be together with Hraesvelgr. So now you remember and you become peaceful again, easy."

That entire Endwalker nonsense? Why didn't we just use the power friendship to stop the final days? Are we stupid? Why didn't we give Hermes a Taco so he stops being depressed? Smh.

if you dont remember the scene i was talking about. go to your innroom post stormblood look up "return of the bull" scene 5. then rewatch that lame as shit with bakool ja ja and see if it hits the same.
maybe im biased. but yeah the result might be the same. but the excution is worlds apart. because that is good writing.

Exactly. Plus nowhere in my comment did I say that Bakool Ja Ja IS forgiven. Not sure what they are arguing against. I only compared two somewhat similar situations (obviously in an exaggerated and humorous way, at least that was the intention). The problem is still with an obvious lack of consequences or even any proper acknowledgement of the scale of crimes committed. Based on the dialogue you might as well think his worst crime was saying mean things to Wuk Lamat. In reality he freed a dangerous beast that could have wiped out the entirety of that one location, or possibly even more, had we not stopped it. Something he was well aware of and did not do on accident.
