Not a fan of the new Bahamut. I agree, it should have been Alexander if they wanted to go the mechanical aesthetic route.
I really hope they drop this new Bahamut and replace it with another primal.

Definitely agree on 2-4, especially adding Levi-Shiva-Ramuh! For number 1, if you view Solar Bahamut as being a stand-in for Hydaelyn, it kinda makes sense… IF we get a stand-in for Zodiark too for an astral/umbral team swap! But that requires us getting the other 3 gem summons and being split into their respective teams… And honestly the rework only “makes sense” if this is where they’re going, because otherwise, why set it up like this and not take the next logical step? IMO we should’ve gotten Levi-Shiva-Ramuh before we got another Demi. And rather than just upgrade Fester, it would’ve been nice if we got another filler spell besides ruin to use for when you want to delay your burst rotation for whatever reason.
I am in favor of keeping the rez too… it’s definitely getting a workout in the new dungeons! Which leads me to…
Yes! Maybe they could let it last until you summon the next Demi so you have some wiggle room? Or make it do some damage like PCT’s Star Prism so it doesn’t feel like a waste to use it when heals aren’t really needed? Honestly the only time it seems to come in handy is if I make a mistake and die, because then I can use it right away to top myself off and save my healer(s) the trouble! lol But when I’m in trial with 2 healers and maybe a PCT or 2 as well, it just feels useless.Originally Posted by Connor

Thing is like I’d love for Summoner to have access to an emergency aoe heal, especially for if the healer goes down. But considering you only get to use it in that silly 30-second window after Solar Bahamut, it always just ends up wasted unless the stars align and an unavoidable aoe goes off at the same time it’s up.

I agree with 1 and 2 but 3 and 4 I completely disagree with. 3 and 4 kinda go hand in hand somewhat...smn and rdm can't really do that much more damage than they doing now bc they have rezs. Like it or not rez tax is a very real and needed thing bc if smn or rdm did as much dam as lets say a non-selfless melee job then they will be even be more of a must-pick in parties. Even now at the dps they have they are already auto-picks in most savage parties bc they have the rez and that leads to moments where blm and now picto have to compete against the other melees for one spot on a party which is the 4th spot(the flex spot).
Don't get me wrong I love for smn to do more dam but as long as the battle rez is around and given how easy it is there no way it can do more dps. I know its lil a bit of a hot topic among ppl but I firmly believe in doing away with the rez or making the rez a role action with a long cooldown mainly bc I see it as the main issue why the caster role is so poorly balanced. As long as the rez is only on smn and rdm then these two jobs will continue to get auto-picked for the caster role leaving BLM and Picto having to fight to get into the flex spot with the other melee.
I also add that I want smn to be a caster again and not some pseudo phy range. I want smn to be complex and challenging to play again like it used to be. I know you said you like new smn but new smn took the only job I enjoy in game and during all of EW I was left with no job I truly enjoyed. Luckily I have picto now to fill that void but it wasn't right to take a job and rework it to be as simple and easy to play as they did with smn. No job should be reworked in a way where it makes it so easy that you don't even have to think when playing it.
Ever since the job action trailer for dawntrail I've been confused by the inclusion of solar Bahamut. Is this something we just haven't been informed of? Does anyone know the origin point of this entity?
Honestly the other changes to the kit were much needed. An upgrade to fester(and probably should've upgraded painflare at least visually too) damage ability that procs off the raid buff that is a nice addition to the burst window/big hit for trash pulls in dungeons too. And round out the kit in comforting ways.
But yeah honestly no idea where/why we got solar bahamut, would've much prefered to leave the demi summons alone. Maybe instead seeing something done with the enkindle button during the filler phases, but like instead of getting to use it for each you can only use it for one or maybe even it is an enkindle for cabuncle that has him throw in an attack or execute something.
Would have been nice if using Bahamut gave you 3 primal and then using Phoenix changed them into 3 other primals mentioned in point 2 or vice versa. Maybe a mostly aesthetic change with similar buttons, but they could be given different abilities from ifrit garuda titan. Maybe less instant casts.

If I may chip in with my feedback regarding the new Summoner abilities and Solar bahamut.
For me the issue now lies in the sound effects that are being used for the new upgraded skills for "Exodus", "Sunflare" and "Necrotize".
Their sound effects are lower in volume than the previous "Ahk Morn", "Deathflare" and "Fester", when I use these new upgraded abilities I do not get the audio feedback response I have grown used to hearing the last 10 years, and since when Dreadwyrm Trance with summon Demi Bahamut became a thing.
The new sound effects lack the heavier weight behind them, the audio-queue of the impact of the skills, I do not feel I have pressed the ability button at all, so I wish this could be looked into.
If they buff SMN damage "because it's a caster" then they just need to drastically reduce the ranged tax in general (which I have been in support of since before the SMN rework)
It would be pretty ridiculous to give what is functionally a physical ranged with a raise a buff solely because of its role and NOT address the physical ranged role at the same time.
The way this game treats ranged DPS in general is pretty aggressively terrible.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks they dropped the ball on summoner this expansion

At this point I've come to the conclusion they will never add anymore summons outside of the demi ones.

To add insult to injury it feels like he doesn't get small enough when all pet sizes are set to small. He still takes up way too much screen space. Does he shrink at all?
