The opening to the Kozama'uka night theme sounds just like Merry Go Round of Life from Howl's Moving Castle! Just the intros of both. And with Kozama'uka always raining, I can't help but think of My Neighbor Totoro :3

Also, don't you think the Pelupelu are a little familiar to a certain bird beaked race in Zelda Windwaker? Some even wear goggles too lol. FFX came out first though which first had the Pelupelu before Windwaker's Rito.

Funny that a while ago, there was a thing about how the theme of Sephirot phase 2 is so similar to When Worlds Collide by Powerman 5000.

Literally the first thing I noticed in the expansion and I hated it. I told my FC and they didn't hear it. I'm so glad to see someone agree with me.

I was being a little facetious. I'm not actually charmed by any of it, I think Square Enix is creatively bankrupt and is a thin line away from plagiarization.
All the music in DT is so freeform, disorganized and just bad. There's no melody, just a cacophany of sounds. The only part of the Kozama'uka night theme that isn't a mess of random noise is the part that's plagiarized lol.

Well, they say a bad artist borrows, a good artist steals.

One of the things that grabbed me initially with this game was how out-genre the composer was willing to go to sell the primal trials. Titan and Garuda stood out very early on for this, and up until like... Shadowbringers, you could expect to be surprised for pretty much every primal.

Glad Soken got around to writing more incidental music for random cutscene happenings, though. And using non-zone/main themes from previous expansions more for variety's sake. They've been using the same 'something happy', 'something silly', 'something whimsical' tracks since before ARR, and they could always use more new company given how often they're replayed for every little cutscene from the MSQ to the holidays.
