The 3d models have already been ripped and overlaid on top of eachother. The differences which are noticed in the live game in any angle of lighting are also 1:1 to a completely unshaded mesh

The "overall perception" is not what morphed my characters face and expressions into something different.
The face shape is different, the lips are different, it's all different

Again, the old meshes with the current lighting/shaders/environment would not look as before. They were designed for the old shading/lighting/environments. That's why they had to change them. That and the improved rigging. Sorry that you don't like the way your character looks anymore but most people are happy. Deal with it.

Overall, I prefer the new face models over the old ones. However, I do agree that the quality varies significantly among them. For example, Viera face 2 was ruined for me, I really dislike it now. On the other hand, Viera face 1 is excellent, to the point that it feels like the developers focused solely on perfecting that one. I suspect this inconsistency applies to other races and face models as well, with some receiving premium treatment while others seem like an afterthought. This inconsistency shouldn't be the case.

Agree. A few weeks before the expansion, I switched my face 1 Viera for a face 3 I played two years ago. The update butchered face 3. After a short time as Au ra, then Hyur, on DT, I was missing Viera so I took back my face 1 and I think she looks good (just have to change my eye colour).
On Hyur faces, face 1 is not so bad, as well for face 2, but it’s another story for the other faces.
It seems to have disparities between each races face models. Some went clearly better than others.

If you don't know how 3D models and textures work in FFXIV, then you should probably look it up. Stop asking for old models, t's just a massive work load on the dev team.

Maybe stop asking people who don't like them to shut up and go away. We are not pleased with the changes. Many changes are worse. Many are better but no, they all are not better. So shut up, touch grass, and let people tell the devs what they did wrong. If your character looks great, good, I'm glad you got lucky, many of us didn't. Many faces or eyes in the game are worse than before. And this should be adknowledge instead of saying you know better than others.

Because I don't have any other option? I will mod them to how they were if the actual devs don't listen. You really think I was happy playing with my character changed? Because it made me want to quit. His expressions in the cutscenes are not the same, this is not the character I have been playing for years. This is not him, and no matter how many fantasias they throw at me, I can't fix his eyes. It's saddens me, it makes me depressed and not want to play. I want my character back, if this continues and they don't listen, I won't play anymore after this expansion. It's just NOT FAIR.

I mean, you're still choosing to play the game ultimately.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying to quit. I'm just saying that if it genuinely bothered anyone in here, I don't understand the mindset of still continuing to play the game with the character you're trying to protest over. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me and shows that you're still willing to compromise and be okay with things. It's like if a healer in the healer strike still played healer despite posting tons of comments hating on healer.

So is this something that is genuinely going to upset people for a while or will we be back to normal in a week or two?

P.S. If you are feeling depressed over something, it's probably better to not force yourself to do that thing and take some time for self-care. Not being depressed and feeling happy and satisfied with life is more important than a video game character.
