What is this utter nonsense lol1000%! Proper keybinds are critical when playing melee.
I come from a background of fighting games and action games, and that's the demographic melee DPS jobs are designed to cater to. I hotbar things on my controller so I just make quarter-circle or half-circle motions like motion inputs in fighting games, and it feels silky smooth!
It's always the ultra-passive healer mains raising issues like this because they're not so much "gamers" as they are looking to turn this into a visual novel experience with social features.
Melee has no more in common with fighting games than any other role, and this whole post seems to be more of a screed against healers that seem to live in your head without paying rent
Controller player here no issues with playing Viper.
I adamantly disagree with combining Twinblood and Twinfang into Serpent's Tail. The absolute last thing Viper needs is fewer buttons to press.
Viper is completly fine in my opinion. I like how the entire Rotation flows into itself. I have no idea what you are on about on controller with the layout. I have all of my attakck buttons on Y, X ,A and B (XBox Style) i just have to switch with the triggers. The positionals are also very clearly marked and the Class even guides you through it all. IF anything i want the class to have me use a bit more brain, because right now it kinda feels empty.

Viper is completely fine on controller. If anything its amazing on controller because after a few hours of playing it, muscle memory kicks in to where I dont even have to look at the hotbar.
I think the majority of complaints are people who have less than 12 hours playing the job and the biggest hurdle for probably alot of players is figuring out what buttons fit where on the hotbar that actually feel good but that is the same with any new job but probably moreso with viper because of the large amount of OGCDs.
Please don’t look at this post Devs. I’ve never meshed as well with a class as I have with viper. I haven’t had an issue with this class and it’s the only class I’ve been like “ I do not feel like playing any other class” because something felt off. It isn’t in a place where you need to change anything. If there was ever a time for a dev to read little ol me’s comment, This is the time!

Keyboard:
There's no way around it, Serpent's tail has to be bound to C and then the other two dance around it. Anything else and your thumb has to extend outside of a comfortable range to constantly hit your abilities. This is really annoying because it means you also need to reserve V and Spacebar for your other two if you want to avoid overtaxing your thumb.
Ironically, Viper is really, really easy to click through. You need to duplicate Serpent's tail 4 times, but you can basically draw a T block with your ST skills on one side and AoE skills on the other. Position your Serpent's tails in-between your Dreadwinder positionals so that you can basically draw zigzags for reawakening and then surround your Twinfang/Twinblood buttons with their combo skills. It's super comfy to go through and you can bind your utility abilities on easy to reach buttons if you need to.
I don't have any issues with my keybinds on keyboard/mouse and don't have serpent's tail bound to C. I have no idea what kinda keybinds you have going on there, I only use my thumb to jump when I'm messing around and I can comfortably hit all the buttons with my index, middle, and ring fingers.
The only kind of weird thing I might have to do is on every job I have aoes bound to ctrl + some button because I don't ever need them and there's usually a single target version of the aoe skill. So those are all the same on viper or not. Tbh almost all of my melee are using similar binds to each other even with me using viper. In these cases i'll hit ctrl with my pinky.
I think one thing you'll need to understand is that there are good practices in terms of setting up keybinds but, what's best for you isn't something someone else might ever use. Like I said I personally don't ever hit a single button with my thumb, I never have had to in any game ever. It's really weird to me you thought specific binds absolutely had to be done. There's no one best way to keybind anything really.
The most we could argue is that steel fangs is made to be left adjacent to dread fangs which is meant to be right. They should add an option to switch the job gauge for those two skill combos. That's really it. They don't need to consolidate anything.

I admit consolidating both into Serpent's Tail was a bit much (I was thinking of conserving the double weave but didn't consider the button roll and I didn't want to change the OP), but I really do think the reverse (Twinblood and Twinfang both acting as Serpent's Tail) would open up a lot more ways to customize the bars currently. I'm not denying that Viper is easy, it's just more cumbersome than other jobs. Yes I have all the abilities bound to the face buttons on shoulder button holds so that every single combo flows into a L2+R2 hold for Twinblood/Twinfang/Serpent's Tail without needing to stop movement, but that's essentially adding extra button presses to each combo which again, makes it more busy than it actually should be.

Keybinds on viper have been completely fine with me, no idea how you arrived at such a wrong answer. Please let the job have buttons to press so that people who just like pressing buttons have an option.
