    Mountain Zu Mount

    Hi all,

I am an Australian who has moved countries permanently to the USA. As a result, my account counts as a European account, despite the fact that I now live in the US.

Having moved countries, I participated in the Mountain Dew event and purchased several bottles of Mountain Dew to get the Mountain Zu mount. Upon attempting to redeem the code to Mog Station, I'm told that I can't redeem the code because "It's only for people in America".

I've submitted a ticket to Square Enix Support - both EU and NA. So far the only solution that I've been told is that I need to create a completely new square enix account, re-buy FFXIV and it's expansions, throw away over 1200+ hours of game-time on my current account - in addition to the purchases that I've made on Mog Station directly. That's an absolutely absurd requirement if I want this mount, especially since I've paid good money for the Mountain Zu event (I have the email proof if you need).

Considering that people move countries all the time for work, family, military, health and plenty of other reasons, I can't imagine that I'm the only person who's had this issue. Surely there's an actual solution that doesn't involve me throwing all this away.

    Kind regards,
    Miro

This is no technical problem, whats the point to for the thread?

You or SE cant change the region of your square enix account, its permanent. If they dont do it, we can't do it neither. Ofc the code does not work on an EU account.

I'm not asking to change my account to a different region (though why they refuse to allow that is frankly beyond me, because seemingly every other company seems to be able to do that almost at will. Riot, Battle.net and several others all allow this so why can't they?). I'm asking for a solution to the problem - that being that I have a code for a mount that I can't redeem despite living in America. I have physical proof of the purchases that I made to get the code - something, by the by, that was never specified to be NA only. Ideally, what I'd like is for them to just put the mount on my account since I've already paid for it. It's not like it can't be done.

It's stupid to expect that players won't move countries for one reason or another. Life is a thing that happens. Marriage. Work. Military. Health. It's insane not to allow. And like I said before, there are plenty of other companies that do allow region changing, so why won't SE? Even if it's something that they only allow once a year or something to prevent abuse. It's almost certainly not a technological issue. I doubt it's even a legal issue either.

Guess you didn't read the rules huh. The mount costs what, about $10? To bad, but you’ll be ok.

I'm sorry this happened to you, but my two cents worth...

You have more invested in your current account than you do in the Mountain Zu. Keep your account. Hopefully SE will be able to resolve your complaint another way.

Some of the replies to this post are exactly why Square doesn't do the region changes. No one really fights it and just accept that it's how things are. Life happens, people move all around the world. Like OP said, other companies are able to seamlessly offer region changes for people. It seems like some outdated practice to not offer that.

I ran into this post because I'm on the same boat as OP. To be told that instead of making one change to the account you've invested time and money into, you can just re-buy everything, is unnerving to say the least.

I hope you're able to find a decent solution to your issue OP. I gave up and decided to just try and get my money's worth.

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It will be forwarded to the appropriate party. As previously mentioned, unfortunately the Mountain Zu collaboration is only open to SQUARE ENIX Accounts under the US country. If a SQUARE ENIX Account is under a different region, it cannot be changed after creation of the account. We apologize that the product and service you are referring to does not meet your expectations.

Additionally the associated items cannot be directly granted.

This thread will be moved to "Closed Concerns”. Thank you once more for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!
