    Greed?

Is it just me or are the prices for raw materials just a bit past hysteria? I've been trying to go the crafters route for fun but the "late game economy" is killing alot of that fun of weeling and dealing. A good example of this madness is when I went to Ul'dah to buy some copper ore and the cheapest price I found out of 36 vendors was the npc who was selling it for 71 gil. xD

It seems like if you want to be a crafter than you have to get to level 50. But by than why would I want to craft?
SE has a set an informal price cap on goods, its called the npc's price tag. Am I the only one understands this?

Well, it sells from a vendor for 72 gil each so you're technically saving a gil per ore.

What are you trying to level? Chances are whatever end product you level off of will at least double your investment.

I think the lowlevel materials and items will always be cheaper at the NPC. Why would anyone bother selling copper ore for less than 71 gil when you can get get several thousand gil from doing a single guildleve?

And speaking of guildleves: I'd recommend using those to level up. You'll receive gil instead of paying for your levelups. And you even get material rewards which you can then sell for outrageous prices at the market wards.

I appreciate the feed back. I hope this thread is more or less a wake up call to those who are selling any material. Overpriced items will only drive away potential customers and make them future competitiors.
