    Because it would be a bad marketing choice to have a "bard" as the "hero" in the trailers. The trailers display the respective job gear and I honestly think they decided to have something more mainstream and standard for the public gaming audience. Then again does not explain why the MRD turned into PLD...

    Due to XI PLD has pretty much become the image of FF MMOs. Even back when Cecil became a PLD it started being seen as a "hero" job in the job based FFs.
