[PSA] Don't solo fights as Tank when everyone else is dead at 50%

Because all you're doing is wasting people's time. You aren't making the dungeon go any faster by flexing your WAR or Tank Muscles by self-sustaining from 50% to 0%. Nobody cares. It's faster to wipe and start again if that many people are dead before 5% or even 10%.

When people do this, they detract from people's gameplay and might as well just have not played the fight at all - and I doubt SE will do anything about it considering they're dead set on making Tanks Invincible(unless you're DRK).

How often does this actually happen? I only rarely see it, and almost always think it's fine.

It's fun to push yourself, it's fun to see other people push themselves. I wouldn't be on the ground if I didn't make a mistake, I don't feel others are obligated to yeet themselves off a cliff if I mess up.

I've been seeing it a bit more as of late - I must be getting weird people in my queues then. Still, I don't think there's anything wrong with people watching if they're fine with it - but more oft than not I've found 50 - 0% is 5+ cycles of the same mechanics and gets boring if you're doing nothing real quick after the first couple cycles to see how to deal with them.

Happens more often with the new expert dungeons. They are pretty unforgiving if you still make mistakes because you are new to them.

A lot. I've already seen it thrice just since DT's launch. Funny enough, all three times, they never actually succeeded and eventually died anyway after a long wait, meaning they wasted everyone's time for nothing.

Funny how so many people here will come to these tanks' defense, yet I'd wager they are also the same sort of people to complain/ragequit if a tank doesn't wallpull, or a healer doesn't dps, or whatever.

I've had it happen four times in the last month. (Sorry I'm a filthy casual with skill issues playing with other filthy casuals with skill issues)

And I mean you can try to die as a tank but most damage output won't outpace passive regen.

I have seen it a lot in the beginning, but now, not as much as people don't die as often anymore. I personally am of two minds. In a way, I find it incredibly boring and time-wasting for everyone involved to flex some ego that nobody gives a flying shit about.

But at the same time, I am grateful. I can stand up get a drink for myself, and stretch while others do all my work. Like thanks, I guess? ).

You also give people a chance to learn.

Personally, I have always asked my group (if I am confident) - Do you want me to solo, or do you want me to sacrifice myself? More oft than not they have been happier with the former since they can just view the mechanics from the outside and learn them.

But they aren't learning as much by watching it as they would be doing it. That's the issue. Everyone died on the first boss of the third dungeon in my first run. The tank solo'd the boss from like 85% to 0. It took ages and there is absolutely no way that I'm going to remember the mechanics the next time I have to do it because I just sat there bored watching paint dry.

You can learn just as much by watching and observing someone execute the mechanics, if I am honest. Not everyone will learn in the same manner.. Personally I learn by banging my head against a wall until it sticks... Some others will learn it with a graph, and others may learn it by just watching someone else clear it.

I simply give people that option on whether they want to watch and learn or whether they want me to off myself into a wall or take all the unavoidable AoEs under the sun to sacrifice myself.
