We both know that they know working with xbox comes with extra hoops. Were it simply a money decision it would've been done ages ago but even a diapers age toddler can see that it wasn't until 11 years later that it happened. Gonna need something less shaky than that to back up your argument.

Xbox is dying, they probably gave FF14 some very good incentives to come over.

If their vetting is as dictative as it is then I wager they had to fess up to SE and not the other way around, but that likely isn't the case.

To further cement this, they took XIV to Korea and... was it China? Before they brought it to xbox. So, I repeat, why are you blaming SE for giving people what they wanted?

It does matter though, you and the Xbox players might not like it but it's hard to find a worse time for downtime then they picked. That the update has to go through MS scrutiny means this was pushed to this time frame as well. Once you get in bed with MS you live by their rules. They now dictate when things can roll out, such as this. If 1% of the population is impacted it's absolutely different than if 60% is. To act like it's not is simply not business smart. Now I'm not stomping my feet complaining about being compensated or boycotting the game like some are, I will however push back on people that just accept bad business decisions. Simple acceptance is why companies don't make solid business decisions to start. Massive distance between "this shouldn't happen do better" and "compensate me or I'm boycotting".

I'm extremely doubtful that it has anything to do with the xbox version, mainly because I don't see why microsoft would work on a saturday for the sake of FFXIV. It's not their game. And microsoft doesn't dictate the release date of patches, they merely have to spend some time to test it and greenlight it, at which point the publisher is free to publish it whenever they want (which is especially important for online games because no, microsoft can't dictate publishers when to perform their server maintenance). In any case microsoft wouldn't give such a greenlight on a saturday, and if even they did yesterday it makes zero sense for SE to decide to start a maintenance the following saturday night to publish it.

Also the xbox issue is client side anyway, it's unlikely thay they'd have to update the servers to fix it.

1 hour 50 minutes to go. For me the worst thing about this maintenance is I've actually been silly enough to come read stuff on here.

It brings out the worst in people when they can't play a video game for a couple hours.

regardless if its to fix only an xbox issue or not, xbox players paid for the game and if they havent been able to play it, it needs to be fixed. sorry if that impacts you, but thems the breaks.

people complain about not able to get in, if now they can, thats great. but what makes the rest of us so special that we get to play something we paid for... and they do not. simpler math is, dont be selfish.

i am litterally work with the internet and i can say you are just take a petrol canister and empty it over a burning flame. You litterally tell everyone who works the hole week for some of us 12 hours a day which just wanted to enjoy the free day. how fcking dare they to complain about it. Ofc noone will die but we dont have to eat every bs this "indie" Company throws at us.

Note: Complain all you want, won't change a thing... Techs for maint are in JP region so it gets done on their time. The maint hit me at 4 AM over in the NA region. They can't time it so it is perfect for all 3. it's literally impossible to do unless they patch each region seperately, and then your game is suddenly dead cause NA only, EU only, JP/etc only due to having to split it by region to prevent people having advantages or such cause they were patched "first."

All of this over an emergency maintenance... a thing that is the norm for MMOs that have just dropped a major expansion for like the first month of said expansion. On top of it, it was done at ass crack of the dawn hours for NA so it's no where near impacting 90% of players. Probably more like 60% of players. 70% at most. On top of that, that's just factoring NA and not other areas where it isn't a problem. And you want to know the real losers? As others said, the poor techs who had to be called in on their Saturday to push this fix out
