Outdoor Housing Needs a Few Updates to help with space

Outdoor housing is pretty limited to just having basic outdoor amenities. You can't be too creative because you don't have enough furniture slots to combine to make something elaborate and you don't have enough land area to use before things start looking cluttered. For my cottage, I can place a mailbox, mini-aethryte, garden plot, chocobo stable, lawn bench, table and a tree or two.

If I feel creative, I just use my island's 90 slots. There are some wonderful things you could do but sadly you can't really share your creations there. Here's the garden I've been working on (shameless self promotion).

That's a nice garden, I hope we get a generous amount of slots outside too, I need at least 20 more slots to complete my garden at both of my personal homes.

You can get creative but I do agree that I need more slots for small plants to fill in the empty spots but my yard is completely walkable without feeling cluttered. This is Meow Mansion's garden with the latest treehouse walls.

Another idea I’d like to see in the future for the exterior is the ability to change the “flooring” of the ground outside, similar to how you can change the carpet/floor inside, or how you could change the ground type on Island Sanctuary independently of the building styles.

But in the meantime, I hope (but not really expect) that exteriors would get at least 5-10 more item slots when they raise the interior limits. From everything I’ve seen, it seems like they were very careful to specify interior on that though.
