I don't even really consider it that difficult, if they wanted to make it easier I think the only thing that wouldn't affect too much would be upping the debuff to 25 seconds. Pretty sure everybody who likes the job are worried they're going to up the gcds or otherwise gut the job. Kind of a bait and switch after we all just spent the time to level it imo

My favorite melee DPS ever was 5.3 Monk, and Viper feels like what I would have wanted from the 6.0 Monk rework. Please don't change it, there are twenty other jobs that can be played if someone wants a more accessible pace.

I enjoy this game for the ways it keeps my hands busy, and I'd hate for my new favorite job to get gutted so soon after its launch.

I also think it's worth addressing that these changes will be delivered at an absolutely awful time, the day of the launch of the Arcadion Raid Tier. For those of us like myself who play in statics, we will already be on Viper for our teams. If we don't like the changes, what are we to do? Quit our teams because we no longer want to be on that job? Try to find another team the day of? Or just not go into the first tier playing as Viper because we're scared of what the changes might be?

If changes must be considered, I think they should come out either substantially before or a little bit after the drop of the tier, and should ideally be shared beforehand so players have time to make a decision about what they want to do.

Yuss, another MNK main! ♥ 5.3 MNK with a speed build is what I used for raiding, and it felt SOOOOO GOOD compared to this. However, even THAT was considered a step backward from Stormblood.

You are correct, though, this is exactly what MNKs wanted for a MNK rework in 6.0 and didn't get. If anything, MNK needs to be made like Viper with some additional oGCDs for double-weaving!

Agreed. When people complained about MNK changes in 5.0 that were actually detrimental (having to wait on a server tick in the opener for a resource before combat could even begin), Yoshi-P said not to be hasty or make snap judgments, and we had to wait 2 years only for MNK updates that didn't actually even address the problem. What ever happened to the "don't make snap judgments" Yoshi-P?

I would say that they should've held off on any changes until at least after Arcadion Savage, so they could at least collect some metric data on how the job is performing in Arcadion Normal.

Just a reminder that the vast majority of people on both sides of the forum, reddit, and Twitter want Viper to stay as is; and that when SE goes through with changes anyways its only because of ego and not wanting to contradict themselves.

That's all. Have a good day.

Agreed. It's why I've said Yoshi-P needs to go. The buck ultimately stops with him, and if he was the guy who made MNKs wait for 2 years on fixes (only to find that the real problem wouldn't even be addressed until two expansions later) after telling us not to hastily make snap judgments, only for him to okay THIS situation, I can't trust his word on anything. It has happened too many times, and he originally wanted to leave by 6.0 but was promoted to a department head which is a Japanese company's cultural way of saying "we don't want to let you leave,". So his heart really isn't in it anymore and this game truly needs a director/producer who actually cares beyond just lip-service.

You’re being hyperbolic. Yoshi a literally the guy who saved the game from the fire.

That's a nice fairy tale from 11 years ago SE loves to push for marketing purposes, but not the reality. The game was still ultra-primitive back in 2013 for a WoW knock-off and wasn't very popular, it just became more playable than it was in 1.x. It wasn't truly successful until the then-more-popular-in-Japan Guild Wars 2 had its JP servers pulled by NCSoft in 2015 due to rising anti-Japanese sentiments in South Korea.

He's also the guy who told the entire player base that Eureka Pagos wasn't poorly designed, it was the players who were doing it wrong (it was, and they weren't), has made loads of promises he hasn't kept, and said he wanted to quit by 6.0 with aspirations to work for Blizzard on the Diablo franchise (before the Blizzard controversies which drove SE to promote him to department lead out of fear he'd leave the company otherwise).

Whatever he may have been to the game over 11 years ago, that was then, and this is now. At this juncture, he has dropped the ball and doesn't seem to have his heart in it anymore, so he should turn it over to someone else.

Don't treat the guy like he's Jesus. He's just a man, he's not perfect, and eventually we all get tired of working on the same thing for over a decade and want a change of pace. If his heart isn't in it anymore, SE forcing him to do it out of Japanese corporate culture pressure isn't good or healthy (nor is Japanese corporate culture in general, given the suicide rate there due to overworking employees). If you care about him, let him take a break and give the reigns to someone else. Sakaguchi seems to love the game a lot more than Yoshi-P at this point, and if he wasn't more interested in playing the game than working on it (or even his own company's projects, according to interviews; he's an XIV addict :P ) I'd love for him to return to the franchise and helm the game in Yoshi-P's stead!

This is my first post, but my anxiousness necessitated my opinion to be voiced. Please do not change viper, it is extremely fun and perfect the way it is.
