Why not quote me instead of saying "snip" I didn't write a whole chapter, lol.You may or may not end up feeling the same way, The core of the issue for a lot of people is the sheer amount of screentime that revolves around Wuk Lamat and how most of the time we stand there like a doddering yes man, I honestly think besides a few dumb story elements aurrounding Mamook and Hanu, things have been mostly chill and fine, if they would just stop forcing Wuk Lamat constantly, It just doesnt stop and if you dont like her or have no interest in her, it makes for a bad experience, They've never done this before and you would think someone would have said maybe we should chill out a bit on the amount of Wuk Lamat time, but nope, it feels like some weird Social Experiment, how much can we make people who love our game play when we keep force feeding them a character over and over.
And yes, I have joked that this been a nodding expansion but our character has more or less always been that way, we follow our companions and nodding along the way.
I'm not terribly surprised, at least for where I am in the MSQ.
There's lots of nice elements to the expansion but there's a dearth of interesting characters and dialogue. Wuk Lamat really does rip me out of each scene with her extremely offputting, childish behavior. I've literally skipped cutscenes just to avoid listening to her go into Jarjar Binks mode.
I've had complaints in the past, honestly with each expansion, but they were very subdued compared to what I feel like we're seeing here. Is the studio overwhelmed? Square is not a generous publisher and the team may be suffering due to the internal issues. It tgenuinely doesn't feel like the MSQ as is should've made it through playtesting and I'd have happily ate a delay if it meant better.
People referencing Stormblood as an equivelent ... that seems wrong. Yes, it and ARR are the whipping children but I've been here since launch and I don't recall Stormblood backlash anywhere near this. People didn't like Ala Mhigo pacing or Lyse's characterization changes but the rest was highly praised and important to the core plot.
I think a lot of it is that a chill story with lower stakes is often something where the plot might take a backseat, and the experience is carried by interesting worldbuilding and character interactions. For a new beginning, this is a good thing and I think a lot of people wanted that.This. I haven't finished it yet but made it toand while she havent' been my favorite character, the story been fine so far. I honestly don't understand all the push back unless something drastic happens next in the MSQ. My impression thus far is people came in with high expectations despite was told this is going to be a chill story.cowboy place
Only...the vast consensus is that the character interactions fell flat.
It breaks my heart, too. Didn't the head writer of DT do the Black Mage Role Quests? Those were fantastic.

Actually it is pretty much the worst story of all time. It is in fact so bad, and so damaging to the game and the story overall, that someone in leadership will probably have to step down for this release.
You should take a break. Leave this forum if you're not happy. Or just unsub so you won't be compelled to post
That...makes no sense. Why would someone unsub from the game because they're pointing out the forum is filled with professional complainers who can't stand others being happy?
One of the most sane responses I've read in the forums in a while. Restored my faith a bit in this community...
I just unlocked solution nine and did a bunch quests in it. The story does get better once you enter heritage found. But the story before it is painful. I hope they keep on the same path. But the first half was unacceptably empty. The lack of voiced cutscenes had me loosing focus or falling asleep on the story a lot. I know many will try to shut down criticism and protect the game at any cost
But jeez the story being that bad in its opening act is completely unacceptable. If you can't hook someone in at the start you may loose them for good
