One of the most sane responses I've read in the forums in a while. Restored my faith a bit in this community...
Dawntrail is so bad story wise that even ARR looks like a masterpiece, it literally killed my urges to play and made me cancel my subscription already. Yeah the boss design has improved (not too much, but was real bad before so its an improvement) yes but job gameplay is still garbage and im afraid they are gonna neuter Viper because its too hard for those players with just 2 fingers on each hand
Doubt it, the devs don't admit fault they just double down. Yoshi recently did an interview where he asked what was next after level 100. He said it's really had to do because of how complex the jobs are......... Currently he is stating the jobs are complex, so yeah give up all hope of a GOOD rework at 8.0 it's gonna be a further dumbing down more homogenisation. GG WP RIP FF14
I don't think Dawntrail's story is catastrophic, just frustrating and unsatisfying. And given how much people enjoyed the stretch from 2.55 - 6.0 (give or take some of Stormblood), it's worrying, especially on the back of the also unsatisfying 6.1 - 6.55, and what we know about the role of the writers responsible for HW (no longer working on XIV) and ShB/EW (now supervising instead of writing). People aren't just reacting the 7.0 but 6.1 - 7.0, and what it means for the future.
And for the people who dislike Wuk Lamat, she is an absolutely unrelenting annoyance throughout the MSQ. How many FFXIV players would have survived ARR if Smug Alphinaud was in 95% of all voiced cutscenes?
If these writers are allowed to continue, the next MSQ will be similar childish shonen anime disney trite.
The sidequests are of surprising quality though.
