"Taking a stand" quest

I also fear it requires forgetting significant portions of the game prior to this. I think Zenos was a much more demanding solo duty, for one. I know there were some particularly challenging solo duties in certain job questlines (looking at you, that one RDM finale). Playing Zero fighting the hordes of voidsent in EW is about the same difficulty. Thancred's stealth mission, you have to carefully pick your fights and easily can end up having to reset a few times.

I remember not realizing one move in "Taking a stand" being somewhat confusing until I realized it was a donut marker, and toward the end, they start pressing you to finish by ramping up the DPS from Bakool Ja Ja and his lackeys, but its super scripted, and you get LB faster from your AoE attacks on the packs. I imagine dropping the difficulty will make it trivial.

I am struggling to understand how one got through the entire MSQ of the past 4 expansions, only to get stuck here.

yup same difference ... no difference on difficulty modes...
you'd think yoshi-p went to "Fromsoft for Elden ring" mode the You died for the 50th time 100th time, you suck.... die more...
this Main story quest fight is becoming a blocker....

yes , i do need a new laptop , that's a given .... as the new game is stunning but unplayable if i don't dial down to nil...
the animation sputters etc ok for dungeons with ppl ...
but 5 seconds of free hits on me

new shinny graphics card , laptop new 3500 bill just to win this for s*it fight ... 128 gigs of ram gen 5 nvme looking expensive.... job market went from 90k salary to temp agency.... work is a joke , and a struggle my ps5 is taken over 99% the time so it's old laptop or bust ... unfortunately car engine /new laptop laptop
90k year to minimum +/- wages ... game keeps my frustrations in check mostly...
laptop is least dawntrail's minimum specs ++ 32 gigs of ram but 4-5 years old...

very easy hard it doesn't matter you cant get enough hp's back fast enough to pass..
worse i don't tank enough for this fight to seam intuitive i get 2-3 limits off last 3rd limit died as it prepared to fire...

hp get to nill even doing everything 95% correct ...
i have a 45:0 on this fight ... so winning on it not......

I agree. Honestly I just wish Square Enix would make a mode that plays itself mostly as I'm generally too busy eating Doritos and browsing photos of Johhny Depp quite alot of the time when I'm forced to do unfair mechanics.

I finally got through the instance thanks to some help from a commenter on a YouTube video!

Therefore, I wanted to post this here since it may help others as it did myself. Also, I'd like to say that advice like 'One key gives us heals, one does damage, and one does AoEs', again is NOT helpful. Most of us know that, but which one does what, and some buttons are more helpful than others as many will notice below in the explanation that a kind-hearted individual gave.

Anyways, onto what I hope will help people. First off, once again I'd like to say this is from a person on YouTube who was kind enough in the comments to explain the mechanics and how they worked best.

1. Before you even start, press the green button. it increases your max HP by 20% and restores it. Use this IMMEDIATELY and EVERY time it comes up, keep an eye out for it.
2. Spam only Tail of the Bra'ax, over and over again because this combo helps raises your HP. If you are too far away from him to do Tail of the Bra'ax, like running away to dodge an AOE, throw in some Beak of the Lautena, it does ranged damage.
3. When he raises his arms and has red flames around him, use Run of Rnoneek to jump him. It is the purple button with the three charges, also get behind him. Make sure to keep using Tail of the Bra'ax to get the combo and keep restoring HP.
4. When all the orbs start to light up, and you see a green one, run toward it, this little area will always be a safe Zone.
5, Dodge all the fire attacks by running around and using your AOE.
6. When he brings up the clones, he is the one with raised hands and on fire. Get behind him and keep spamming Tail of the Bra'ax.
7. Use your limit break EVERY time it comes up and do it IMMEDIATELY. Do this and spam spam spam Tail and use Laweteena pulse, your green button, EVERY time it's available. This is very important!
8. When the pillars come up out of the ground. Run to the one he created first, pay attention to the order they pop up, and run to the next two to decrease the damage taken.
9. When his thugs come in switch to the Turali Judgment instead of Tail. Just spam this over and over and over again. Make sure to use the heal button whenever it comes up.
10. After this is over, there is a timed event, and you will need to spam quickly the O button when it comes up.

I have never posted in these forums but had to say thanks. This saved me from days of beating my head against a wall.

After a decade of playing, you should be well aware of what you're going to get.

This is not going to help, because for one thing, "スタンドを取る" is almost certainly not the Japanese name of the quest.

I finally got it done today. Studying all the hints helped tremendously. And rearranging the action bar buttons to a more logical layout for my setup.

Every time someone says "Read the tool tips" ... I get enormously frustrated and mad, as a console player, I cannot find where such a thing is actually explained and those shouting from the rooftops, stop being lazy and read the tooltips, might actually be a bit more helpful and tell the rest of us where they are.

Lilimo covered most of the instructions earlier, but a couple of extra notes on that:

Hold L1 and press in R3; this turns on "cursor mode" that basically gives you a mouse.

When you've read all the tooltips, move the cursor all the way to the lower right corner of the screen (sometimes it stays on-screen even after turning the cursor mode off, and this gets it out of the way)

An alternative to the virtual mouse mode is using the controller touchpad as a mouse trackpad. You can do that without activating a specific mode.

And for hiding the controller when you're done, it should go away by itself after a few seconds, but I've found the quickest way to get rid of it immediately is:

1. Don't be in virtual mouse mode.

2. Hit the touchpad button once – the mouse cursor will disappear and it starts doing its usual "pointing hand cursor" selecting of UI elements.

3. Press Circle to remove the cursor from the UI. The mouse cursor does not reappear.

People are still struggling with this fight on Very Easy? I failed it once on Normal during early access and redid it on Very Easy and found it to be... *very* easy. All you gotta do is stay close to Bakool Ja Ja (unless it's not safe) and spam your combo. Hit the AOE combo if his lackeys join the fight. GGEZ.
