    Pretty logical here
if this game does not attract new players current players lose because the game gets shut down
if a fight chases people away from the game, read above

That's not an overly complicated argument

I'm totally for having fights of this difficulty level in 2.0. My only point is this game is about attracting the ppl who essentially quit to 2.0. And instead of releasing content they can do, they keep releasing content that requires practice, strategy, and a good team. All that does is make the returning casuals disinterested in the game, and hurts 2.0's chances of success.

it's easier than the previous quest, it just takes a few tries to learn the AOE and how to dodge it as well as getting meteors down easy, I think I did it in 3 tries

Legatus of the VIIth Legion, The White Raven Nael van Darnus easier. IMO he should be so much harder than he is for a guy who during the fight proves he can rape you if he really wanted for 9999. But also applauds you when you beat a primal hes is a villain that should live through the times of XIV.
I don't even think he's dead. I believe when Dalmud absorbs whomever, u end up on dalmud, and become even more powerful. Cus if garuda and ifrit where dead (cuz they both got absorb by Dalmud) how are they back in 2.0 as roaming NMs. Black Raven is much alive and will be back with a vengeance.

And I finally beat him today with pickup group, all in all, I believe it was my 8th attempt maybe less. Wasn't keeping count.

Practice, strategy, AND a good team? Blasphemy. SE must be admonished for having such requirements in an MMORPG.

This is a totally pathetic argument. Like, extremely pathetic.

First of all, the fight is not some unbeatable god mode that requires you to harness the unbridled strength of the cosmos to beat.

I think almost everyone here would be pissed if it was. This is the final fight for the 7th Umbral Storyline, not some walk through the park for you to calmly enjoy. It's meant to be hard, it's meant to require strategy and it's meant to kick your ass if you don't use any strategy.

Also, it's been stated that the 7th Umbral Event storyline is for CURRENT players. If a few schmucks come in and decide they don't like the fight because it doesn't hold their hand, then I don't want them in my game to begin with.

Also, your definition of "Casual" insults me, and probably quite a few other people around here. Where, ANYWHERE, does it say Casuals don't want/enjoy fights that require practice, strategy and a good team?

You're making too many assumptions to build up a failing argument and honestly, if the game were to fail, it would be because of misguided people like you.

Casual and Hardcore are time references, not skill references.

A casual player may play less than a hardcore, but may be better at their part of the game than said hardcore member.

A casual player is not someone who logs in every six months, preforms poorly, and argues how bad the game is because they can't win a brand new fight in the first few tries. That is a fickle player.

Please be sure we distinct these properly. As well as establishing the difference between a hardcore player, and an obsessed one.

It's a simple argument with a giant flaw.

We're not advertising 1.23. We're advertising 2.0. Creating content that is easier than it would be for its equivalent in 2.0 (Or should we be saying AAR?) Would be false advertising.

As your friends said. "The fight would just be the same thing in 2.0." Then, obviously, that would be a decision on the game's mechanics as a whole, and a lying to them would be dishonest.

Better for them to either push to win as it is, and change their opinions after persevering, or waiting until AAR actually comes out instead of extrapolating a speculation off of a fight designed as a Finale for those who have remained in game thus far.

So no, I don't agree that making the game easier just to fool people into an enjoyable experience that may not be there in 2.0 is a sound practice. 2.0 Should sell on it's own merits, not false advertising.

After my struggle to defeat him, it was well worth it. I'm not super geared, none of us were. We did our learning in the fight, struggled and in 5 runs (thanks to being silly a couple times and terrible luck) we did it. We took in knowledge from the community and in our first fight got down to 5% and from then on we learned.

To the OP, if you want to know what happens without having to fight, check out youtube or read someone's blog about it.

I'm pretty glad these forums don't represent the actual XIV community.

I just hope people that are new to the game at the launch of 2.0 avoid this place as the attitude of some people ("gtfo casuals") is enough to drive away the base of players who are a backbone to MMO communities (those playing just to have fun)

All I can say to new people is that you shouldn't listen to the most vocal members, they are in the minority. People in this game are pretty cool.

I'm positive the game won't be saved by people running around in AF complaining that Ifrit is too difficult and that there is ani lock/lag in To Kill A Raven, lol
