New Stargazing Deck and Reflecting Pool are gorgeous.. but way too big

While I'm quite happy to see the Stargazing Deck and Reflecting Pool make it into the game in such fine form there's just problem, they're absolutely huge. Using the housing item preview option with my small size plot, it was actually extremely difficult to even find a place that I could put either of the two items down, never mind a good place where I would actually want them to go.

Could we please get smaller versions of these items (with the necessary tweaked design elements and reduced features of course) so that they could actually fit in something that wasn't a Large sized plot? Note I'm not saying they should get rid of the versions that currently exist, just give us a Size Small option as well.

I checked these in preview on my own small and don't see a problem with the size. They're furnishing that you'd want to design around as opposed to trying to insert into an existing design. They're also using up space, which helps meet player demands for more items that will make yards feel less empty.

I agree that a half size version of the reflecting pool would be a welcome option regardless. But I don't see how the raised deck could be made any smaller and still have the same furnishing detail. The Ivy-canopied Deck is close to the same thing for those who want something smaller.

Eh, it's pretty much impossible to "design around" them when they literally butt up against the wall of my house in the one corner I'm allowed to place them. I'm not even sure I'd be able to walk around it.

As for making the stargazing deck smaller while still retaining the same design, all they would really have to do is lop off the section with the bookshelf and shorten the seating into a love seat size as opposed to the full four section it is now. That alone would nearly reduce it's footprint by half.

I wonder if your choice of housing skin is playing a role. When I was previewing, I found a decent amount of space still available for decoration on the door side of the house (though it meant placing it against the fence) and a good amount if I tested it on the side of the house.

Don't forget it's also possible to place part of it inside the house skin, further reducing the amount of space it takes. I've done that with the large garden ponds on many occasions.

On the Stargazing Deck, they could make the changes you suggest but I very much doubt they would since it is a Design contest winner and they try to keep the item as close to the original design as possible. You may want to submit an entry with your own idea for a raised deck during the next contest.

Yes the choice of housing skins could be an issue. I have a small plot and it fits fine in the back corner for now, just using standard Highland walls. I’m planning to get the new housing skin, and the posts of the deck will definitely cut into the little garden area on the back of the Country Cottage. So I’ll be moving the deck to the front corner of the yard. It has a better view there for the telescope anyway.

Definitely love the furnishing as it is… the little bookshelf, the couch with the pillows, the rug, all of it. I wouldn’t want any of that taken away to make it smaller. Now if we could ever get some sort of size scaling for furnishings across the board, that I would support!

Way too big for a small need at least a medium or large for it. Seems really nice. They need a smaller version of it too.

But I don't want it "taken away" to be made smaller. As I clearly say in the first post, I just want a second version of the items made that are smaller and fit better within a small/medium housing plot. Both the Stargazing Deck and the Reflecting Pool could easily be given additional smaller size OPTIONS without really changing their basic feel/vibe/design.
