I have been having a consistent problem where the game disconnects me. To add salt to the wounds I am forced to log out then log back in.
The final straw was the fact I was dc'd during the final trial. It ruined the fight. By the time I got back in it was too late. The boss was on the floor. The celebratory music of "you did it" feels like a lie.

This happens no matter what data center I'm in. I'm in dynamis because at least the player log in queues aren't insufferable. If I kept count I would not be surprised if it happened 15 times over the span if 3 days. It is getting to the point that I am forced to move quickly through cutscenes or else I would need to rewatch them all over again because the game decides I should have the story be interrupted. I have no idea how to remedy this.

Are you on wifi?


If yes, try a wired connection. If no, are you on pc? If yes, look up the IP addresses of the data centers (easy to find) and run a tracert to see where in the network the issue is.

I'm on laptop but I have no access to the internet wiring, unfortunately.

Try MudFish VPN. It's a pre-paid VPN that you can enable for a single app. I bought $5 over a year ago and I haven't run out yet. It's particularly good at handling weird disconnects with FFXIV. I don't use it all the time, but whenever something feels icky I turn it on and it has worked really well for me. It was the only thing that let me play for like a month when my connection to XIV otherwise was impossible in 2023.. or 2022? That's my recommendation.

You'll need to look at the stability of your connection, as micro-cuts that you won't see outside of online play obviously don't work on an MMO.

I don't have any connection problems of my own, and FFXIV isn't the problem, since I've been connected all day since Early Access, and I'm on a PS keyboard/mouse console.

I was having the same issue as you. I truly hope the vpn thing works out for you because in my case, I was forced to go for a direct connection after constant micro disconnects. What really gets me is that for years I played this game with a wifi connection with little to no issue, then my problems started a month and a half ago.

It's not a VPN as you think of a typical VPN. They do have a Full PC Mode but the main intention of MudFish is to offer a more solid connection for single apps (specifically games) that may be shaky on your PC for whatever reason, not mask/hide your IP or "encrypt" your data or whatever the usual YouTube sponsors claim to do.
