New Mount Scam Making the Rounds

Just got this tell today, don't fall for this scam! I wiped out the section after the ffxiv slash so you can't go to the direct page (the rest is needed to do so). Be careful!

No idea how to add pics again from IMGUR ... meh. TY @HauntedLasagna for the tip!

So when you want to post an image from imgur (might work on other sites too?) you just right click the image, copy image link, and then click the little box with the tree in it and paste the url in that box. It also works for gifs as well.

Eventho, unless you've recently talked to said person, that account might've been hacked and sending links to spread it further.
I know, paranoia. But at least confirm that there's the real person behind before accepting a link.

You're right! I forgot I literally had a friend get hacked on discord and all he did was click a link. I was talking to some random dude for 40 minutes only to be hit up for money. Always confirm it is a friend, if something seems off, go with your gut and just ignore whatever link is being sent. Also its good to remember that SE will most likely never contact you in game though tells. They usually send messages using the in game mail in the support window (maybe via mogmail? unsure). If they do contact you in game, their name will always point out that they are a GM.

I can't imagine clicking a link from anyone in a video game, GM on their name or not. Why would you do that?

People need to read their links and use the launcher or a google search to open official websites.

I've seen the scammer link who replaces the l with I because in game chat font, there is no difference between l and I until you copy and paste that into notepad or something

Okay, got the pic up in my OP, thanks to @HauntedLasagna /thumbsup

I also wanted to say, I recently learned there is a way to now set block filters in your chat! It only fits 31 characters, but you can do some real good.

For example, in the scam link above, when you right click on the senders name as if you were going to Report them for RMT, there is another option called Block Functions



Choosing that gives the option Add to Term Filters



You can then set up what words or phrases to block and in what channels



Try it out next time ya'll get a scam link or shouts you don't like!

Simple solution (and obvious), don't click on any links send to you unless you can trust the source (and if its a friend, its not a trusted source, they can been hacked).

Common sense goes a long way.
