Skirmish: how?

Does the amount of enemies and/or their strength vary with party size?

I seem to remember some comrep or Yoshida saying that it would be balanced for 4-8 players. If you need 8 to have a chance at clearing it, it's not really balanced for 4-8, but for 8 .

I was kinda looking forwards to this as something I could just keep doing with 3 other persons that I know well, and not have to put together a full party.

3-4 people...doubtful since it's timer based.
5-6... i guess its possible.

Pickup groups for this... no thx.
