No gear-check really, it's very simple and straight forwarded content, but you do need to know mechanic of the NMs to do the fight well such as where do you moves if Chimera uses this, etc
There is no cost, just speak to NPC and enter.

It's one drop per win so far. We won two and got a weapon each time. There are no totems or nuts or tapers or anything involved. Go in, beat them, and win a weapon.
Really fun content that makes sure you know what to do, what to avoid, and how to use abilities at the right time. Stun locking is so fun on the peiste, chimera, and cyclops xD And it also seems that class/job stacking isn't the best since each type of mob has different weaknesses.
I'm just happy that there isn't a speed run involved for a drop. But maybe I'm speaking too soon since there is the gladiator gear set for war and magic classes that I don't know where to get from.
We got 2 weapons on one of them. We killed both pretty fast with 15 minutes left so maybe a speed trigger.

how did u get the one with chimera? i wonder if its random? we got the one with tree all 3 times.
tree one mobs were
1 ogre
some floating eyes
a catuar bug and hog
and some goats
i wonder how to go to the other one.

Turtleback Island has:
Buffalo, Pieste, Chimera, cyclops, and Golem. All about defense.
Don't know about the other place but that one has a priority on attack instead.

Did you enter with less than 8? I have only gotten the one with Chimera, granted i have only did it twice. But i am assuming light party would get lesser mobs, because Chimera path has NMs mostly
Did a turtle island with with 1 pld, 2 whms, and 5 blms. Won with 1 minute on the clock. Got a longsword drop
For golem, whoever had hate ran in a circle around blms while they nuked and casted blizzard for the gravity.
Costs nothing, and I rock full AF and a mog-axe while the group I ran with was pretty much the same no crazy melded gear.
