Sudden frame drops causing game to crash and computer to freeze completely

Update July 3rd, maybe it can help others, too:
I disabled SLI support in my computer settings (and reinstalled the game), which so far seems to have fixed my issues. The game runs at a stable 60fps on maximum settings and only crashed once when porting to Tuliyollal.

    ---------------------------

Since the start of EA I'm having massive sudden frame drops, going from smooth 60fps (set via RivaTuner) to 15-20fps, after about half a minute of that the game freezes completely, so does my computer.
I'm effectively unable to play the game because it freezes in cities (Tuliyollal, Radz'at'Han, Mor Dhona, Limsa), in the field (old and new areas), in battle, in cutscenes. Since Friday I barely managed to reach level 91 because the game crashes every few minutes.

What I've tried so far, to no avail:
    - removed all additional controllers and USB devices
    - updated the graphics driver
    - tried various graphic settings, from lowest to highest and a custom mix
    - disabled fullsceen optimization in the system settings
    - reset game settings
    - repaired game data
    - disabled my second monitor
    - removed the fps limit ingame, set an fps limit ingame
    - no other running programs leechin resources (streaming apps, chrome etc)

    System specs:
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6900K CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz
    Installed RAM: 32,0 GB
    OS: Win10, 64-bit
    Graphics: 2x NVIDIA GeForce 2080Ti

If anyone has any advice on what I can do to play this game, please let me know. Until then I'll involuntarily play something else in this week I took off from work

Have u tried to set a FPS cap through Nvidia Control Panel?

For me weirdly that seemed to make a difference, ignoring the FPS limit options ingame and turning them off and then set a cap in nvidia. Maybe it was a coincidence.

Im sorry that u experience those problems. Good luck.

Edit: Oh nvm i see i have misread the top part, u already fixed your problem haha. Good!
