    [Dawntrail] Request: Let us enjoy Map 6's beauty while post-gaming. T_T

    I know it's for story reasons that it does what it does, but when we've finished the MSQ and want to gather/farm fates/treasure hunt/etc., simply having something pretty to look at would be... so much better.

    Sadly I know some weather dependent fishes/etc. wouldn't allow this, but is there some way we could do this without NG+? Please?

    Personally, I think zone 6 is at its best in its postgame state. I would despise reverting it.

    It's a dead world, manifested as, essentially, a closed theme park. The lights are off, the stalls are closed. This land, once full of life, joy and activity, has just... fallen silent. Its musical theme is distant and faded. Everyone's gone... but the place they loved and lived in still remains. When we first entered, it was a theme park for ghosts; now, the theme park is a ghost, too.

    I find that far more beautiful than when the lights were on.

    I agree.

    In fact, if anything, it made the side-quests more engaging.

    I'm of the same mind to leave Zone 6 be post MSQ. Though
    the stinger ending implies we may not be done with that area yet.


    Still a little confused if it's a
    different reflection than what we saw merged with zone 5, or the same reflection just pre-lightning calamity.
    Sounds like it's the latter.

    Now that we have our
    little world hopping McGuffin
    I think this may be how the FFXI raid series may start. We have until probably late Oct or early Nov I'd imagine before 7.1 drops to know more.

    it's the same that was merged with Zone 5 since Living Memory is the 12th level of Everkeep. It's a plot point saying Sphene retreated to her home reflection. And there's no lightning calamity involved, it's another shard and not one that has been merged.

    We actually don’t know that, Alexandria has been under the barrier since a “lightning calamity” with originally all 12 levels of the everkeep existing within whatever shard living memory is currently in

    Alexandria (at least the everkeep) could actually be a tiny tiny fraction of the 12th that managed to survive the 2nd umbral calamity as the lightning war that caused Alexandria to put up the barrier fits the bill of a lightning calamity perfectly

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    Except that, because Living Memory is there, the shard must remain.

    I think you're going brutally 'square peg round hole' here. Insisting that it must be this fallen shard, despite all evidence to the contrary.

    That’s the thing we don’t know enough to say that definitively

    We know that Alexandria is still there (well at least living memory ever since the other 11 levels are now in the source) but we know nothing outside of that and we know that Alexandria put the barrier up against a calamity of lightning and that ever since the barrier went up there has been no communication nor attempt to breach the barrier into the everkeep

    So this could be
    1) Alexandria came from one of the 4 remaining unaccounted for shards and the inter dimensional fusion simply ripped it out of that shard while living memory remains still within the barrier
    2) Alexandria was cut adrift when the 12th was absorbed as the barrier protected it, Alexandria become the remaining shreds of the 12th

    We don’t know enough to prove either way, the ascians specifically did calamities in a particular order, it seems strange they would randomly decide to do another calamity of lightning

    I’m not saying Alexandria is the 12th but I can be argued either way as we simply don’t know, we have no evidence that Alexandria’s barrier couldn’t have protected it against the rejoining and as such it isn’t really the “12th” just a bubble of reality cut lose when the shard it was tethered to was rejoined

    Giving players the option is always the best choice. There's a lot of GPosing to be done in that zone.
