I can see how this boss can be difficult since it has a lot of overlapping mechanics. Definitely wiped on it a couple times on my first time running the dungeon.

Don't be afraid to queue up with random players, though. I've almost never seen someone get flamed because they failed a mechanic. Someone might offer some advice if they see someone struggling, but don't think of it as a personal attack.

Trusts were a mistake. Not only does it destroy the literal point of a multiplayer game, they then had to go back and neuter old dungeons to make it work with their braindead AI.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the game do a blackout immediately the moment you die when you do an instance with trusts?

Is this the Xs and Os mechanic? If so, I also had trouble with this one at first. But I got a really good party who was patient with me, and someone wore a dorito until it started making sense. I’d definitely encourage you to run with actual players. I only level trust for the titles/NPC glam. The AI healers aren’t that great! The amount of times I’ve watched Alphinaud stand in the bad and die is insane! lol On the other hand, trust NPCs also seem to be able to stand in certain things and NOT die, which doesn’t teach you proper positioning.

Assuming this is the part you’re having trouble with, the most important thing is to be aware of where the first X or O drops to be able to position yourself correctly, and think a couple steps ahead. For an X, there will be a cross/line AOE, for an O, you have to be inside the circle. That part made sense to me right away, but I was dying because I wasn’t positioning myself in a way for the next mechanic to go off, so I was sprinting and still getting snapshotted even when I knew where I had to go! You need to look at them as they drop and try to see the safe positions. Sometimes you get a lucky pattern and there’s only a couple spots you need to move to.

It can take some time to learn what is a safe place. Just stop everything and watch and move during this part if you have to. Everything seems hard to me the first time I do it, but like everything else, practice makes perfect. And sometimes it’s just knowing what the “tells” are for a given move that makes all the difference.

It does, but you may learn from seeing what the npc members are doing in the moments before you die. Even if too late for you to copy their movement on that pull, hindsight of what you should have done will help on the next.

Yes, if you die, you get sent back to the beginning of the dungeon and have to take the shortcut and try again. Trust NPCs can’t rez. And sometimes they don’t position themselves fast enough for you to follow them to the safe spots. I can’t wait til I level mine and see how they handle what I affectionately call “laser tag”! lol

    Hi, OP^^
During 4 years and a half playing FFXIV, I've seen that most players are glad to help when someone needs it. Make a party finder saying something on the lines of "I cant survive the last boss with the Trusts for the life of me, please help", or join duty finder and be upfront with your issue to your fellow party mates as soon as you start. I am sure they will support you as much as needed, even if it means raising you many times, or, if they cant raise you, helping you to get a clear. Please dont spend money in a jump potion for this, have a little faith in others <3

They also just actively don't even try to dodge the mechanics sometimes; particularly in the trials.

They weren't. They're just poorly done.
Honestly I'm glad they at least added a way of future proofing stuff. We already have problems when queueing for anything not MSQ and for now DS and Trusts have made leveling a DPS a possibility.

That said... OP, either try another class you might connect with and do better, or just queue. The game isn't as hard as you think and believe me, it's VERY rare to find assholes playing, most of them lurk here and are not representative of how people are in game. At most one or two other rage quit but they do so silently, and since this is a new expansion it's expected will die as we learn.

Please OP, don't be disencouraged, the content like raids and optional trials are rarely hard and people wipe, laugh and try again.
