1.23 Fairly large? :P Patch notes make it seem like the patch is nearly pointlessYeah that's true, though I really do think they're just stretching regardless of spoilers or not xD. They even said 1.23 would be fairly large but so far doesn't look that large.
Also those confused/worried about Caravan changes, it's basically stated you people who love to burn everything down with BLMs will be the only ones benefiting from it, anyone else won't even get a chance to gain participation points, so in all reality, it seems like they're trying to fix that situation and it can easily become a grief tactic. Good change honestly.. But they didn't want to spoil anything.. so maybe that's why half of the Potential Patch notes were not there to read. :P
We shall see how big the download is in in 4hrs and 15 mins :P
Hi All,
While it seems a bit underwhelming on the surface, there are enough potentially interesting things here that I'm curious about.
- 6 New Side Quests - If these are of the quality of the previous "Full Cinematic" Side Quests (like the ones with Chief Admiral Merlwyb, Elder Seedseer Kan-E-Senna and her Little Sister, and Flame General Raubahn), then I'll be happy!
![]()
(for those that have never done them, those Side Quests (not Grand Company Quests) released in previous patches are well worth seeking out. Great cinematic cameras, interesting plot / insight to develop the Final Fantasy XIV Eorzea world / characters! (for example, "Disorganized Crime" Quest)
- New Grand Company Quest - This is probably the Finale (w/ cool, challenging Boss Fight) to our Seventh Umbral Era and sets us up for the remaking of the entire world for 2.0! Can't wait.
- New Max Level Content / "Boss" Battles - Skirmish. We'll see how this turns out, but it could be fun, and it's a new Instanced "Boss Battle" with New Weapons as rewards.
- Chocobo Caravan Updates - Safety measures are being put in place to help limit the trolls / freeloaders (who abused Chocobo Caravans). This is a great tweak / update for this aspect that we players were complaining about.
- Crafter Specific Gear - It's nice that they're giving Crafters something special to go after, after the rounds of Class-Only and Job-Specific Gear for DoW and DoM.
- Allowing Materia to be melded onto the previous Unique / Unmeldable Templar's / Buccaneer's / Harlequin's Armor Sets (from Faction Leves). This is a nice change, that should make some of the pieces more useful for those that have them but don't have access to other equipment.
But it would be nice for Square to make a more Consistent change: If they're allowing these Unique armor to be Materia Meldable, why not open it up and be consistent and allow ALL Unique Equipment to be Meldable? Right now it feels very arbitrary.
- Rivenroad - As others have said, I'm very curious where Rivenroad is.
Maybe it's for the Final Grand Company Quest, maybe it's for something else?
- And we still have "1.23a, b, and c" patches for more content opportunities.
With 2.0 (and literally a whole New World / Lands / Quests / Storylines / Content / End Game / UI / Crafting and Gathering Reform, etc.) coming, I'm not surprised that our last Pre-2.0 Patch isn't as gigantic as previous patches. (Because much of it could be throwaway work after 2.0.)
But there's enough here that it sounds like it could be quite entertaining if done right. I'm hoping we get treated to some more fantastic Cinematography / Story / Missions / Quests that we've seen glimpses of so far to conclude the 7th Umbral Era and brings us into 2.0.![]()
Can't wait!

Get these now, for greedy assholes will skyrocket the prices lol.Allowing Materia to be melded onto the previous Unique / Unmeldable Templar's / Buccaneer's / Harlequin's Armor Sets (from Faction Leves). Why would they fix "freeloaders"? It's not them abusing Caravan, it's the BLM army that's abusing it. You can't even touch the mobs with them around lol. Freeloaders can at least heal chocobos if they do happen to get hit, BLM army though negates anyone else's participation. So it seems to be a fix for that as well since you need activate participation and if you deny someone that, you can get GM'd for griefing.Chocobo Caravan Updates - Safety measures are being put in place to help limit the trolls / freeloaders (who abused Chocobo Caravans). So that's an all around good move on SE
It's supposed to be, because Yoshida himself stated that even though most of the team is on 2.0, the ones working on 1.x are trying to put in as much as they can to show they still care for trying to deliver quality content to players. Also, based on PDFs it technically should be a fair bit larger than this, which is why they're just trying to stretch it out to give people stuff to do till Alpha. With 2.0 (and literally a whole New World / Lands / Quests / Storylines / Content / End Game / UI / Crafting and Gathering Reform, etc.) coming, I'm not surprised that our last Pre-2.0 Patch isn't as gigantic as previous patches. Well I'd say that's the worst case scenario. I'm hoping (silly, I know) that it will be something like if you don't take ANY action at all it'll warn you. Hopefully if you at least try you'll still be rewarded. That being said, yay for another thing that favors ranged classes. -_-Yeah that's true, though I really do think they're just stretching regardless of spoilers or not xD. They even said 1.23 would be fairly large but so far doesn't look that large.

While a lot of you are probably right about them wanting to stretch out the content so that there isn't this big period of doldrums before 2.0 hits, keep in mind that we have no idea how expansive this whole skirmish deal is.
Why is it that every time there's a patch, people always find something to complain about without knowing what the full extent of the content is?
You're all gonna look very silly when the patch comes out and there's tons of shit in it.
Plus this doesn't have the content that will come out in the following lettered patches.
Another thing is automatic events.
There's no telling what will happen when we log in.

Accordind to the famous 2.0 PDF, in this 1.23 (a,b,c) there should be the 'geological landmass' raising from the ground and 'Stories about Twelve mythos'.. very curious about them.![]()
I am also curious as to if enemy redistribution means garleans walking around..
or if it means full on strongholds. The chipset to build them exists now,
so laying it down around the game world shouldn't be too tremendous a task (comparatively).
