7,000 people on earth and I will protect them all.
Genuine query as I have no previous experience of an expansion launch.... does the fact that this is only the 'Early Access' period make any difference? Will queues etc increase when the full release launches in a few days?
Not really. There's no extra cost for preordering, so most people just do that.
Queues really have no bearing on popularity. Steam charts put this release as being just shy of Endwalker's launch, which peaked at 95K concurrent, and Dawntrail peaked at 90K.
Even Shadowbringers didn't have any queues beyond the first few hours of early access.
I think the game is doing just fine, but the lack of queues are mostly owed to Endwalker being an anomaly and them preparing for Dawntrail so that it didn't happen again.
That's not quite true, I remember Shb day 1, I remember the duty instancing system got absolutely nuked by too many people playing which created a massive bottle neck in the crystarium zone.Queues really have no bearing on popularity. Exactly. So everyone and their mothers preorder. (Don’t get me wrong, it’s good that’s accessible for most budgets, I’m not rich myself)
I’ve been playing in Phoenix since March 2016, so I was there for Stormblood release and other after it, and didn’t see very much changes in queue number after the early access.
I am sorry to report that there was basically nonexistent queues on my datacenter since day 1, at most, i had like a queue of 10 player, wich was the same at peak boredom of Endwalker 2 months ago when everybody was bored out of their mind with the game.
If it indicates something, is an activity not as better as endwalker's most low motivation to play after all patches and raids were said and done for a couple months... Wich is, not very good.
They added like 10 instances in each zone so that definitely helps
You guys with shorter queues should look at Aether! 2K-4K queue during prime time every day since early access started here on Cactuar. I know a lot of people that have to visit Dynamis so they don’t have to wait 2 hours to play.
Here on Moogle during 'prime time' it's around 40-60ish, so a literal 1-2min wait
