Will past pre-order/promotional items ever return?

I'm absolutely going to play Dawntrail, although debating if I want to order it right (a bit tight on money atm). I've been debating if I wanted to go ahead and get it so I didn't "miss out" on the new earrings, which prompted me to look at past preorder items. Somehow, I missed out on a Red Mage minion from Stormblood, which really surprised me. I actually don't ever remember even seeing it.

So naturally it got me thinking, wondering if such items may ever return, presumably via Mog Station?

There are all those OST minions that are gone forever, along with the emotes for some of the statues, so I'm really not holding my breath or anything. Still though, as someone who really enjoys "collect" things (even if they're not all items I necessarily *need* to have), I would definitely dig having a new route of obtaining them, like a second wave for the statues (once I'm working full-time again), or just Mog Station stuff.

SE has never brought back past preorder bonuses once their revelant expansions/merchandise has been launched (dating all the way back to 1.0 in fact. The closest that happened was during a past Rising event some old 1.0 items were temporarily made available again, but those were not preorder items but items that were from old 1.0 content that never returned (the Manderville Earrings and White Ravens earrings). And it caused such an outcry that SE probably decided never to do that again.

So alas, if you miss out on preorder bonuses they're gone forever once their availability passes I'm afraid.

AS someone who has all the preorder bonuses and gotten most of the promo items over the years...I really hope/wish they're all brought back eventually, because missable items and exclusivity are lame, having things available to people who want them is awesome.

There's also precedent for them doing this, though with the item slightly altered so it's technically a 'new item', like the Moogle Cap (red pom) being brought back as the 'Yellow-pommed Moogle Cap' (identical model except for color), and the 'Housemaid/Butler' attires being brought back as the 'Loyal Housemaid/Butler's' attires (identical except for the name and the latter has a set bonus effect).


They should just let these things work like seasonal event items, and keep them 'exclusive' for a period of time before either adding them to the cash shop or making them available other ways.


....Actually, wouldn't old preorder and promo items be kind of an ideal use for all those achievement certificates most of us have sitting around gathering dust since they added that system and almost immediately forgot it existed?

We really need replica versions of the old preorder earrings (and I believe there was a circlet as well at one point?). I don't care if they don't have the EXP bonus, we just need the designs to not be locked away forever.
