I can agree that the story leaves you to fill in the blanks on Zoraal Ja's motivations. Hmm, I definitely see where you're coming from and you've given me food for thought.

I like filling in the pieces myself because it makes me feel engaged with the story. I very, very much dislike the MSQ forcefeeding the explanations a million times because they're too worried that the player doesn't get it.

What would the balance be in this case would be something that I need to think about. I wouldn't want the story to just explain Zoraal Ja's motivations outright but I can also see why a lot of people think his transformation is too bizarre.

I think Wuk was a much needed palette cleanser. Build up to the new patches. I quite liked her - sure some cringe moments bur her character builds up.

I was gonna come in here saying that I hate everything CBU3 did to my FF started with mystic quest) but leys see where they go from here?

I love abit of suspense like the ARR release them to patches.

That's how they keep is subbed.

I was hoping we get to teleport one-headed to Garlemald and/or Four Lords, he goes on an overload, we beat him up in a trial and then he is smarter/more normal.

Second half of the expansion looks like graphics team needed to flex they can do Cyberpunk 2077 too.

I'd like honest answers without the rose-tinted glasses or the benefit of hindsight regarding the MSQ patches or appreciating the threads that Stormblood introduced and were later tugged on.

Anyway, I'd agree that it's the weakest. I don't think it's bad. I'd give it a 7/10. But I'm easy to please and always prefer to focus on the things I enjoy rather than the things I don't like.
Lyse was one of the most hated characters for a while. Also players are not dumb, we figured out that they essentially jammed 2 expansions into 1, so people were hating on that as well.

There's also a really really nice spot to make Bladerunner Gosling memes. Expect a lot of Gposers there. Getting to this spot was the main motivation for me making it as far.

I'm not sure how an annoying teenage girl is a palette cleanser... if you want a "palette cleanser" Krile fits that mold far better and she's also far more likable.

I think Dawntrail is even worse than Stormblood in that respect. Dawntrail has two arcs that absolutely do not mesh together.

Yes, alot of people bailed during Stb myself included, it was a hard slog of a expac. The difference between Stormblood and Yawntrail is the story is not grounded in a plot that we care about and your character is basically a set piece in the background of most shot. The game story should move with you, your character doing things making the plot move, instead you could have replaced our characters with any random guard and there would be no tangible difference. Also Stb jobs were not as lobotomised as they are now so people who didn't like the story at least had half decent gameplay and some really fun trials.

Well, I'm having some light copium right now with the new dungeons, trials, and especially Expert dungeons. I think they are all substantially more difficult - especially the Expert dungeons - and many of them have interesting mechanics. We'll see how it goes when Savage comes out.

My only issue with the boss design so far is they've done the same thing they did before, increase the difficulty by changing what markers look like and you get punished because you've got to figure out what this glowy circle means or this icon means, it's not exactly brilliant design it's the learn by failure system, not the worst and I think the 3 dungeons I've done so far have been alright, just nothing to right home about. So far most of the expac is mid, not offensive not good, just ok. However the story and job design are so bottom of the barrel bad. It will be interesting to see the feedback now it's out of early access, maybe we're just out of touch old heads that need to move on to a new game and the younger players love it. I don't think that will be the case, I think it will likely be the Glamour, weird chat poster, you know the uwu crowd that will love it and the rest of the western playbase will hate it but we will see in the next 2 weeks.
