Thread: (spoilers) For the first time since 1.0...

For the first time since 1.0, I am skipping msq cutscenes. I have multiple characters. I usually play through once and enjoy the story, then a second time to really analyze and absorb more details. But I cannot make it through even the first play through.

I am only at lvl 94 and just cannot take that badly written 2 head, the 2 other characters that came pre-flanderized and the poorly written cat screaming about being dawn servent and how much she wants peace anymore. My word where is a spray bottle filled with water when you need it.

I have stuck with this game and read every word since 2010 and this is the first time I just would rather skip skip skip than actually engage with what we were given.

After what we have already been given in DT, plus what they did with the Twelve last expac, as a vet and super fan of FFXI I am scared with what they are going to do to Vana'diel in the 24 man raid.

I'm completely in the same boat as you. I'm from 1.x beta and from FFXI. I hated what they did with the 12 in the 24 man raid as well.

There's a pretty lengthy thread about criticism to the story going on if you'd like to check it out. There are many posts echoing what you're saying. Many of us have loved XIV stories, not skipped CS, and generally were happy or content with what we've gotten so far. However, this story has been an absolute challenge to get through. Just like you, I've not skipped cutscenes, read all dialogue, talked to all the npcs just to get a line or two of extra dialogue, and to say the writing department has dropped the ball would be such a massive understatement.

We've been in this same situation before (helper / not the main focus of the story), and it was handled so much better; most of Heavensward, most of Stormblood, a few places in Shb, and a lot of ARR we're not the main focus and yet we don't just stand around with nothing to do. I digress.

Honestly the story is not only badly written, but its so predictable that whatever you think is going to happen, will.

And the music is just remixes of the DT theme for the most part, so its hard to even enjoy that.

Same, my friend. I'm gonna warn you, it doesn't get much better.

I don't mind Wuk Lamat but I'll be real with you I'm considering spoiling myself just because I'm so bored by the MSQ so far. Like the predictability kinda sucks and unless I get a bomb dropped on me by the second half of the xpac I'm not going to be impressed at all.

I was concerned when they said the writer of Werlyt was going to be doing DT because imho Werlyt is actual hot garbage? And I'm definitely not impressed so far.
