Game crashes/freezes

Since 7.0 I've encountered regular freezing and sometimes crashes inconsistently throughout both gameplay and cutscenes. During these my GPU and CPU usage drop to 1% and the limiting factor on riva tuner changes from voltage to no load.

I am running a 1080ti with i7700k and 32gb ram, when the game doesn't freeze it runs just fine at minimum settings 1080p.


Solution: I unplugged my audio usb device and it fixed it. I still get the odd .5s freeze but it's at least playable now

Had same issue here as you described, random freeze / crash with no error. I can't say for sure if this is what helped but I'm 2 days in now with not a single freeze / crash that was happening before, this was one of the suggestions by mod here in another post:

Go to your FFXIV game folder > right click on ffxiv_dx11 > Properties > Compatibility tab > enable (checkmark on) "Disable fullscreen optimizations".

I have exactly the same issue since Dawntrail. Either it freezes for 15 seconds or so, or it crashes completely. I am using a GeForce 4090 running with max settings. Mudrac's tip did not help and freezes still occur.
