    I hate the Monk changes. Monk was one of the few remaining jobs in the game where there was some decision making behind the buttons you press. Not a huge amount, but some. You had some freedom about which of your form abilities you would press based on your current state and upcoming changes in the battle situation.

    Now it's just follow the glowing button. No forethought required, no freedom or decision making. There's not even a reason to give players access to the non-glowing button, you could just have 3 buttons that auto-switch to whichever one you're supposed to use. The entire "skill" of the job now is just whether you are dumb enough to NOT press the glowing button.


    Honestly I just don't want to play FF anymore. Half the jobs in the game are going through something similar, having depth removed for absolutely no reason. Trying to make jobs appeal to people who don't play them at the expense of those who do. The devs have just totally lost sight of what makes a fun and satisfying video game and I've lost all faith that they will or could change.

    Giving feedback just feels like talking to a brick wall, no matter what you say they just keep dumbing things down and never revert anything no matter how much people say they dislike it. The complaints about Black Mage are overwhelming but just watch as absolutely nothing is done. Why are they so stubborn about this stuff?

    For over 8 years I've been coming here and giving feedback on new iterations of Monk and when they finally had something good going in Endwalker they ruined it. I just can't deal with this anymore. I'm gonna do the raid, level a couple of jobs and then I expect I will just become a once-per-patch subscriber. It's not even worth trying to give feedback anymore, they will just keep making bad changes and never going back on them no matter what you say. You either like the game as it is or you may as well just quit.

    you love to see it when every job you main gets straight up shit on by the devs every single time and made into braindead stuff that requires no skill and makes you fall asleep while playing

    in Stormblood I mained BRD -> gutted
    in Shadowbringers I mained SMN -> gutted
    in Endwalker I mained MNK -> gutted
    (I loved Endwalker's MNK, if they just added the QoL from SSS in dawntrail and chakra overcapping I would've been happy with the job)

    Someday guys we wont get shit on with unnecessary reworks when the job were fine and fun to play.

    Currently MNK is straight up braindead and requires no skill at all, no buff management, no anatman to keep buffs between phases, just press glowy shit and gg !

    If VPR didn't exist I would have no fun playing melee anymore. God bless if they don't gut it in 7.05. MNK had that really sweet spot in Endwalker and I can't comprehend why they decided to change it.

    Even if we're just looking at basic combos, VPR swaps positionals 3x as often as MNK, needs to watch a relatively short debuff in addition to its glowing buttons/UI, and is also generating resources. MNK technically generates resources, but there's no management since you always just hit Forbidden Chakra whenever you hear the ding.

    At max level, I believe VPR only spends around a third of its rotation doing its basic combo and is constantly moving in and out of it with a relatively high degree of freedom. MNK only deviates to spam opos during bursts or press Blitz/Fire/Wind's Reply a couple times every 2 min, with only Wind's Reply allowing for any kind of flexible decision-making. Outside of that, it's just 40+ uninterrupted seconds doing nothing but your basic combo, with no additional timers, resources, procs, ogcds (aside from 1 90s one), etc.

    I'm not saying VPR is some kind of galaxy brain job, just that MNK lacks most the baseline level of mechanical complexity shared by almost all of the other DPS jobs in favor of ...staring at your hotbars, I guess?

    It's high APM on lv100, which is what makes it fun
    it doesn't require a lot of skill but keeping full uptime while doing mechanics can be fun and entertaining considering u have lots of buttons to press

    Completely agree with this. Viper is a great example of "easy but well designed" in this game.

    What classes are not “brain dead”?

    None of the jobs in this game seem or look particularly hard as long as you have higher faculty processing. It’s more about what you want to play.

    Going to give this iteration of mnk a shot… learning that people on these forums really complain for the simple pleasure of complaining.

    How ridiculous that so many monk mains can be in agreement about keeping the dots and... they're just going to keep the current iteration anyways.

    Wasn't reworked because it wasn't performing well. Wasn't reworked because of some new fight design. Wasn't reworked because of feedback.
