    Locked out of PS5 early access - game acting like a pre-order counting down to launch

    Simplifying my previous post because apparently it's not just caused by my weird circumstances.

    I've been locked out of playing on PS5 since this morning, and I'm aware of at least one other person having the same issue.

    The game was running normally yesterday but now just displays a countdown to the official launch date.

    I suspect it has happened at the point where the program became available to download for people who have pre-ordered but had not previously installed the game. It seems that PlayStation has no awareness of the early access period and is not set up to recognise that people may be accessing the game before the official release.

    I am running the PS4 version on PS5, and the other person who is having the same issue was running the native PS5 version.

    We are receiving reports from some customers on the PlayStation®5 version where they are being disconnected from the game when the clock hit 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 30. When attempting to re-launch the game a countdown timer to the official launch of Dawntrail is shown which stops them from progressing.

    This seems to only occur when certain conditions are met; however, we are also receiving reports that affected customers are able to resume playing by downloading the Free Trial version. If you experience this issue when the clock turns over to Sunday, June 30, please try downloading the Free Trial version.


    In short, it recommends downloading the free trial version to get around the block, but I can't see that option on the PS5 shop search.

    Found my way through the labyrinth of settings to locate the free trial. I'll post this to General Discussion as well.

    1. From the main page for the game, press the (...) button and select View Product.

    2. On the product screen, press the (...) button again and select Free Trial.

    3. Press the "Free" button, which brings up an Order & Pay screen. Confirm this.

    4. Install the trial (instant install) and you will regain access to the main non-trial game.

    I’m now getting this as well. I was able to play Friday and Saturday no problem, but now I can’t launch the game and have get the countdown window……

    Have you tried downloading the free trial version as I noted above?
