    Equal attention on skill designs among jobs

    The producer just announced that BLM will be buffed again for damage, I\\'m personally fine with BLM doing more damage but how is that a higher priority than all the BS other jobs are experiencing?

    RDM still cannot use Sprint during Dualcast because the Producer believes that would grant RDM "too much mobility". DNC has infinite GCDs to play during the burst window, oftenly causing a waste. BRD\\'s songs still have 120s CD meaning you have to cast them at the perfect time or your rotation is messed, let along the meaningless DoTs and Sidewinder. I haven\\'t even mentioned the over simplification of SMN and MCH.

    We should all agree that BLM already has the BEST skill design over all other jobs, while the devs team still thinks the highest priority is to buff BLM\\'s damage so it can regain the top among all ranged jobs over PCT, that does make us "non-BLM players" defacto second class citizen.

    tbf I think we're also being protective of it because it was one of the best designed jobs. 7.0's already done so much to it, I'm afraid the uproar over it vs PCT is going to force a rework to change it into something for the worse.

    Gonna be a hot take, but I don't think Black Mage is the best designed job. Like yeah, it can afford a lot more tech unlike other jobs, but its the result of it being a big pile of band-aids, and caked on glue. And as of late, it seems like it has to break its own internal logic to stay afloat with things like Astral Soul, and instant Despair. I think it would greatly benefit from a soft rework -- one that specifically focuses on the rules that govern its instant spells.

    Beyond the strong urge to post a "you must be new here" meme, I do agree that nobody in this dev team has even cared about all the rphys jobs and rdm for at least since 2019. RDM probably even since its inception in 2017 even.

    Black Mage is the root of all problems in this games design and pictomancer has highlighted it. This idea that you need to be the best possible option 100% of the time or you’re completely useless has shunted red mage and summoner to literal training wheel duty and any attmept at making them competitive is met with the community crying that the same job that has been BiS for raiding for an entire expansion at this point, is now gearing up to reclaim that throne.

    My eyes roll to the back of my head. Just give that silly job raid utility and tell the players and yoshi to get over themselves.

    Mao thinkings main problem is fight design. Devs keep doubling down on DDR-style fights with ever increasing mechanics barfage. BLMs, especially DT-style BLMs with rigid rotation, struggle lots with these fights. If fights were to nots be DDR-style and has more random elements, then BLMs would do very well if reverted backs to EW-style with little bits enhancements. Sadly, Devs threw all in for DDR-style fights with more and more mechanics barfage, so Mao thinkings true solution never gonna be done. FFXIV has gone from being little bits like fantasy RPG with spirit of true adventures to....DDR-style arcade game where players has thems characters clog-dancing to beat of fight. Mao never gonna gets chance to save day by castings big spell to stop unexpected attack. Others, like Sune, never gonna gets chance to makes tricky shot to stop an unexpected enemy cold. Fights now just bland and predictables.

    I'm still trying to figure out where people think Black Mage was ever well designed. >.>

    I mean not only does it absolutely not convey the job's fantasy as portrayed ingame, it also is just mechanically a builder-spender job, and comparing other games, and incredibly badly made one at that, owing to the underlying weirdnesses of FFXIV's combat system which in turn we probably owe to the terrible netcode.

    BLM is a neat idea as far as lore goes, packaged in what could easily be a poster child for how not to design MMO classes. I dunno, more power to you if you enjoy it, to me it feels like those leftovers from launch of an MMORPG that the first expansion conveniently scraps or entirely re-implements, only it still feels like that at high levels. Weird job. But hey, more power to you if you enjoy it, I suppose.
