[PS5] Everything has jagged edges since DT launch.

Hello,

Ever since the Dawntrail update, everything in my game (PS5 version) appears to have jagged edges, like there's zero anti aliasing applied. For example, my character's legs:

Meanwhile, the PS4 version being played on the same machine is fine:

(I hope this example is sufficient, didn't want to deal with log in queues multiple times)

Like I said, only the PS5 game client for FF14 appears to have this issue. I've tried the following things, none of which have helped:
-different HDMI cable
-different monitor
-reinstall of the game
-clearing PS5 cache
-tinkered with various settings in both client and the PS itself.

Please, help me find a solution! I was really excited for the graphics update, but everything genuinely looks worse than before because of this. I know it's not a universal issue, as none of my friends are experiencing it, but I can't find what's causing it.

This may be the same issue I was having. FFXIV was locked in 1080p mode and I couldn't change the resolution. The way I fixed it was shutting off the 120 Hz feature in the PS5 settings. This allowed me to go back to WQHD and 4K resolution.

you're not alone, I'm experiencing the same issue, have you found a fix? turning off 120hz did absolutely nothing for me

Sadly, no... The only thing I've found was more Reddit threads of people reporting this issue. Hopefully Square notices and pushes out a hotfix soon.. I'm starting to really doubt it's anything on our end, because like I said the PS4 version being played on PS5 is fine... (Though I really don't want to play on the PS4 version, especially in DT - most improvements of the graphic updated, for example increased foliage density, don't apply to that old version).

Edit: othe things I've tried, which didn't help:
-delete save data for FFXIV
-repair PS5 storage (not that it needed it)
-try every combination of graphics settings in game
-decrease screen size

When you changed the resolution from HD to WQHD or 4K (and back) did the screen actually do anything? Did it actually change the resolution? Or did nothing change? Changing the resolution SHOULD resize your UI each time, so if that's not happening, your resolution is stuck on (probably) HD.

If it is actually changing...then I'm tapped. :-(

OH! You're right! Nothing changes whatsoever when switching between Full HD/WQHD/4K

Excuse the double post, but I just noticed something else.
During gameplay, both character models and the environment look jagged and pixelated.
During cutscenes, characters are much smoother (still not as smooth as before), while the environment remains jagged.

For example, [redacted]'s backpack and grass behind him:


Edit: I don't think it's the cutscenes anymore, but instead zooming in. Zoomed in objects are smoother.

To me the game looks terrible on PS5 too. It looks like sharpness and contrast are set to the maximum. I also noticed that the PS5 menu and all game trailers in the PSN store also look terrible after launching the PS5 FF14 client.

And the only graphics setting available is gamma, which does almost nothing.
I noticed that there is no longer an HDR setting either. And different TV settings didn't help either. But turning off HDR (or setting “Use only if supported”) in the PS5 settings solved the problems somewhat.
I still think it doesn't look good enough to make me want to play it like this, but if you can't wait this might help.
To me it looks like they messed up the HDR/graphics settings without offering options to adjust.
