The issue is not Lalafell. It's the job. Thematically and visually it does not fit the world. It's like they came up with it during a night of binge drinking and instead of realizing what a terrible idea it was, they put it in the game.

I mean....Pictomancer is a Final Fantasy job more than Viper is.
It has its origin in FF VI as the Class of Relm Arrowny.

And with diverse Fairies also having a place in FF14 i dont see why it cant be a job.
Color and Paint Magic is not unheard of in fantasy in general.
