I just wanted do go slow on the msq, craft the gear and use it while doing fates in the zones, instead of rushing through.
to have low-ish level gear locked like that, makes them pretty pointless

I am not beyond level 90 in MSQ yet either, but simply from looking at FATEs that spawn on the map (not to mention the gathering log) it is readily apparent that the other half of the zones will be unlocked very early compared to the past few expansions. So even if being able to craft parts of the 91 sets is blocked off at the start, you'd have access within a couple levels.
That being said I am confused why the mats in the top part of Kozama'uka are outright only for higher level crafts than the mats in the bottom half. But it still doesn't matter that much in the long run.
Also, don't forget that you're given coffers from MSQ and side quests. You don't really need to craft the gear for your first job even if you want to switch to that set.
I dunno, I'm 94 in the MSQ now, and still can't craft those low level items without the market board. But I guess you don't get access to collectables until very late in the msq too... They must want you to rush the msq if you like crafting.
You should be able to craft any level 90 and 92 recipes by the time you complete the first trial. I've already made a lot of progress leveling crafting with materials I either gathered myself or bought from the gemstone vendors, only going to the market board when I ran out of an item.
I will say it feels like they flipped where the level 90 and 92 materials should have been but it doesn't take that long to get through the MSQ to have access to both. I don't know if that was done by intent or accident. XP from leves is large enough that I got CRP all the way to 100 just from the level 90 and 92 materials (had to get a little extra lumber from the market board but mostly what I gathered or bought from the gemstone vendors myself).
Placing the scrip exchange unlock farther into the MSQ than usual may have been to make things more difficult for the RMT crafting bot farms to get a start on end game crafting. They no longer have quick access. While it's an inconvenience to us as players used to things being done differently, it's really not that much longer of a wait.
