Me too. The new face is so puffy, smoothed out, and rounded. She doesn't have any of the soft, kind, and almost matronly look of my 6.0 character. I honestly hated this character so much b/c of how different she is to my main. However, there are no other characters in the creator that I think look better than the one I had and the one I have now, despite how much of a poor imitation she is to my original character.

At this point, as stupid and emotional as it is due to how much my old character made me smile, I've retconned in my head that my original character retired happily after saving the world from the Endsinger. This new character is just a new warrior of light that took over during 7.0. It's stupid, and I know how cringey it is to share that, but I had to justify the massive change I see between the two. It just is what it is at this point, but yes, I wish I had my old character back too.

Maybe they were going for a soulless look so our characters would better match those creepy dolls they're making of Blue Alisaie and Red Alphinaud.

2 things I very much hope folks did before crying out with the big NOPE;
• Fiddled around with setting(Character Lighting especially changes a lot with face)
• Fiddled around with the character creation, understandably know folks want to keep their original face but now is a good time to check your options (Personally liked how the update changed my Roe, but took a look at the other faces and was pleasantly surprised how the others I hated before ended up and sure enough changed to a new one)

yes but lighting will not acutally do anything to fix drastic changes in the actual face
and also yes but all of the lip options are just as bad for face 3 elezen

but the fact is the new faces are lower quality
all you have to do is look at it for a few seconds to see things like the chin clipping into itself with some expressions to know that
also real lips simply do not look like that i have no idea who thought it was ok

I have not noticed anything worrse at all.

I do know after the WoW character graphics update some years back, that it was much the same with the ruined characters, roll it back and utter garbage being released comments.

feedback or not, I highly doubt they will. not to say your opinions are invalid or anything, but they wont. if they feel they can fit them in, they may do some tweaking of the current models, but the old ones are gone. it is unlikely there will be a toggle for them for the people that want them. so, unfortunately, if you do not like the graphics, you may not have many options available to you.

Aside from a few environmental or specific lighting situations (which was already true pre-update), I personally like how my character turned out. It’s just a straight glowup from my perspective.

This is of course going to be a wildly subjective experience because most threads like this where someone is bemoaning how SE seemingly “butchered” their character, in the before/after images I can either hardly tell the difference or I personally think the updated character looks better. There are only a scant few examples so far where it does look like a significant change or downgrade.

I think mine too looks worse off with the new graphics. There appears to be people willing to give their opinions about other people's characters in this thread so go ahead and do so if you please. Which version looks more beautiful, first picture or the second picture?

Here’s the thing….


When you stare at one character for thousands of hours even the subtlest of differences will make it look “off” to you. I’d advise anyone who is upset to give their brain time to adjust unless it is actually a big oversight.

My miqo’s lip looks a little different post update and for a little bit it made her look wrong to me. However when I put the old lip and new lip side-by-side I saw that the size and shape was pretty much identical. The different was that the higher res textures made the shading/shadows different, which gave it a slightly different character to older worse shading. This was weird at first but my brain has adjusted after playing DT for a little bit and now I just think my character looks better and more detailed.
