FFXIV Trial Timeframe

The unlimited time granted to FFXIV trial accounts has a negative impact on the subscriber experience.

The free trial currently has an unlimited amount of time afforded to trial players with limitations. Some players exploit this timeframe and occupy server space while never intending to actually pay for service. This leaves the burden of their server time on the paying subscribers.

The free trial timeframe should be limited to 150 hours online. This affords a trial player 6.25 real world days to decide if the FFXIV service is something they find value participating in.

The limitation would have an impact upon the creation and upkeep of RMT accounts as well. Square Enix actively works to protect the subscribers from RMT transactions and spam, banning tens of thousands of accounts regularly.

Help us, the subscribers, protect and maintain the service we invest in. FFXIV is a wonderful experience and as a subscriber for over ten years of service I feel these measures would help maintain the integrity of the service we all love.

How does the trial effect subscribed users at all?

Playing the game isn't an exploit lol. Some people just want to enjoy the game, and Square Enix made them able to do so without paying for it. That's an amazing thing. There are so many limitations on a trial account that I'm sure users are more WILLING to spend money to play than they are to keep playing for free, especially when they can catch up with MSQ stuff without having to pay to complete almost half of it.

I'm sure the suits at Square Enix has already figured that out by now, because if it was causing a hemorrhaging in finances, they wouldn't of done in the first place, or gotten rid of it.
